The dipping birth rates have been a rising topic of conversation over the past few years. Not only in South Korea, Germany, and Japan, but here in the United States. Leave it to Leftist public educators to not only “embrace” low fertility rates, but to encourage abortion as a “solution.”  

CollegeFix sat in on a Population Institute webinar where University of Ottawa Professor Celine Delacroix was one of the many voices wishing that less people populated the earth.  

“It’s clear that global population size and the growth of our population was and continues to be a major driver of environmental degradation and climate change,” said Delacroix. “It’s a key variable in driving environmental degradation because every human being has an impact on nature.” 

Never fear. She goes on to say that abortion is her quick fix-, the answer to any of life’s problems, according to abortion zealots. Whether it’s an unplanned pregnancy, financial reasons, or because the child is an “inconvenience,” abortion is their number one choice. Gone are the days of “safe, legal, and rare.” Killing children, inside or outside the womb, is not a righteous and justifiable choice. Despite what they say, falling birth rates are a significant issue, and abortion is making it worse.  

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), between 1990 and 2023, the fertility rates fell by 22%. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) found that the 2024 fertility rate was 1.67 children per woman, which is below the replacement rate of 2.1 per woman.  

The abortion industry would be happy if our replacement rate was lower. Thanks to their weapon of choice, Chemical Abortion Pills, preborn death by drugs has skyrocketed via teledeath, especially after Roe v. Wade’s reversal.  

Making the rounds is the Society of Family Planning’s recent #WeCount report showed a 7.5% increase in abortion between 2023 and 2024 and mailing pills jumped from 20% in 2023 to 25% in 2024.  

Now, we have no National Abortion Reporting Law, so it is difficult to confirm if the numbers are accurate. However, given the dangerous deregulation of Chemical Abortion Pills during the Biden administration, and the numerous closures of brick-and-mortar abortion vendors, including the mothership Planned Parenthood in New York, chemical abortion is on the rise.  

There’s no doubt that abortion contributes to this alarming statistic. The real solution, not abortion, is obvious: time to have more babies and let babies live.  

And no, taking on an Elon Musk philosophy of having babies no matter the method isn’t the implication. Study after study finds that children that have two parents and an intact family do better than children in broken or one parent homes  

While there has been rigorous debate on family policy to increase birth rates, The Washington Examiner points to a simple solution backed up by the evidence: increasing marriage rates.   

While The Washington Examiner argues that family policies like the Child Tax Credit (CTC), leave options, and fertility treatments can certainly help, it is proven that married couples are the steady statistic.  

“Married couples are actually having children at the same rate they were in 2007, when the U.S. fertility rate was above replacement. For that matter, unmarried women are also having about the same number of children as they did in 2007,” wrote Conn Carroll for The Washington Examiner. “If we want to get fertility in the U.S. back to replacement level, all we have to do is get marriage rates and the average age at first marriage back to where they were in the 1990s. This is not that huge a cultural shift.” 

With declining marriage rates, the cultural shift will be more significant than what Carroll says, but not at all impossible. While we see an increase of young people towards Life after an abortion heavy election cycle, it is possible the pendulum will swing the other direction when it comes to making marriage and having kids cool again.

Time will tell.  

In the meantime, it doesn’t take any studies to know the climate activists who encourage abortion in some twisted version of environmental altruism are supporting an evil ideology.  

Don’t kill your kids for the climate. Create a climate where kids are welcomed and seen as the gift they are, no matter the circumstances of their conception.
