Jenna Gibson, one of the National Leaders Collective’s (NLC) leaders of the month, is a Students for Life of America (SFLA) Student Spokesperson attending Christopher Newport University (CNU) in Virginia. Learn more about Gibson’s activism, in her own words, below.

The pro-life movement stands for something so significant – protecting the most innocent and helpless among us: the preborn. When I learned about the atrocities of the abortion industry, I could not sit back idly by and do nothing. The truth and reality in America of preborn lives lost through abortion lit a fire under me that still burns today, and I made it my mission to be a voice for the voiceless. Even in moments of uncertainty or hardship, the Lord keeps calling me back into this movement. Although the work can be emotionally taxing, it is all worth it because what I do, and what everyone works on in this movement, means Life and death for thousands of children and is far more crucial and meaningful than people truly realize.

I’ve grown abundantly in the movement over the past six to seven years. I started as a board member of my high school’s SFLA group and later became the president as a senior. When I came to Christopher Newport University, I founded the Students for Life group here and have been the president ever since. I also have completed the William Wilberforce Fellowship program and am currently in the Student Spokesperson program. Outside of Students for Life groups, I’ve volunteered at a Pregnancy Help Center (PHC) for the past five years.

As a result of my involvement on campus, one of my leaders at the CNU SFLA group joined the fellowship program with Students for Life, which got her more involved in the movement. We successfully hosted a school supply drive for a Title IX school in our area. I am also happy to say I spoke at the National Pro-Life Summit Leadership Lunch, which allowed me to impart knowledge to my fellow pro-life leaders. Lastly, I led the Pledge of Allegiance at the Virginia Pro-Life March – a true honor!

Representing students in the pro-life movement is a weighty yet rewarding responsibility. The opportunity to take ownership of my work, build my brand, and instill confidence in future leaders strengthens me just as I strive to inspire them. My journey has just begun, and I’m anticipating even more great things for the pro-life movement in the coming years!
