The abortion industry’s strategy has included co-opting the media to sell false or exaggerated stories about abortion to fearmonger women and to enrage the public. In 2024, they put that strategy into high gear. As usual, Students for Life of America (SFLA) has been there every step of the way this year to call them out and correct the narrative.
As we take our first steps into 2025 with fresh and revived hope for the preborn, look at the abortion media’s desperate attempts to sell preborn death to Americans and all the times we squashed it.
The Risks of Chemical Abortion Pills Aren’t Pro-Life Laws’ Fault: These Pills KILL on Their Own
In the wake of pro-abortion Democrats trying to move the needle with 2024 voters, abortion pundits used tragic stories to scare the public into believing that pro-life laws were to blame for the deaths of a Georgia woman who took Chemical Abortion Pills, tragically ending her life due to sepsis and killing her preborn children.
While abortion zealots pointed the finger at pro-life laws, there’s still missing information and questions about the case in Georgia in 2022, which SFLA covered here.

But, there were still plenty of reasons to see how pro-life laws weren’t the culprit. Even when “used as directed,” Chemical Abortion Pills are risky, and those risks are negligently placed on unassuming young women who are often not given complete information on risks and complications. Only recently has the legacy media admitted that there’s actual pain from these deadly drugs.
Charlotte Lozier reports that chemical abortions are over 50% more likely than surgical abortions to result in an ER visit within 30 days, with one woman experiencing an abortion-related ER visit for every 20 chemical abortions.
Don’t blame life-saving laws; blame these life-taking pills.
Pro-Life Laws Don’t Prevent Doctors from Saving the Life of the Mother
The media doesn’t stop, though. In addition to pointing the finger at pro-life laws for the inherent dangers of Chemical Abortion Pills, they also suggested pro-life laws prevent women from receiving life-saving miscarriage care.
None of that is true.
Every single state requires medical professionals to save the life of the mother. Anything less than that is a misinterpretation or misunderstanding of the law, which opens medical professionals up to a malpractice lawsuit.
Medical professionals who DON’T partake in the barbaric practice of abortion should be trained to treat miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies and have no reason to blame “pro-life laws.
“Procedures sometimes used to perform induced abortions, such as a D&C, are procedures commonly performed in the practice of obstetrics for the management of miscarriage,” said The Association of American Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) to SFLA in 2023. “All OB/GYN resident physicians, even those who train at hospitals who do not perform abortions or those who choose not to perform abortions, are well-trained in these procedures as part of their management of miscarriage. Miscarriage management is a part of every OB/GYN’s practice, as opposed to abortion which is not performed by 76-93% of OB’s.” (emphasis added)
Abortion and Miscarriage are NOT the Same
Abortion is the purposeful and tragic killing of a preborn child, differing from a miscarriage, which is a sad and sudden loss. However, if it means getting more people to support abortion, then the abortion industry is happy to conflate the two. The reason? Blame pro-life laws for preventing crucial miscarriage care so that more Americans will be duped into supporting extreme abortion legislation.
SFLA National Field Director Reagan Barklage wrote the following scathing review of the heartless conflation in a recent The Federalist op-ed:
“Abortion directly and intentionally kills an innocent child who is living, growing, and developing,” wrote Barklage. “Sometimes, women receive miscarriage treatment to prevent them from suffering any further complications, such as infection, after their children have already passed. Unfortunately, women don’t always miscarry naturally and may require medical intervention, whether through a drug called misoprostol or a dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure…the abortion industry preys on women’s ignorance and plays on their emotions and grief. And for what? To justify killing babies up until birth and sometimes even after.”

Abortion is NEVER Healthcare
And last but certainly not least, abortion will never be healthcare. Abortion is the brutal and intentional dismemberment or starvation of a preborn child, which, not to mention, puts the mother in danger as well.
That doesn’t mean that the pro-life movement didn’t come through and speak the truth. SFLA President Kristan Hawkins wrapped up the Pro-Life Generation’s (PLG) best moments from 2024 in a recent episode of The Kristan Hawkins’ Show.
But, knowing the abortion industry, SFLA will likely add to this list in 2025 and continue to debunk every single one of their misdirection.
