If you had any doubts about the momentum of the pro-life movement, let Students for Life of America set your mind at ease: We’ve made monumental progress in both pro-life service and legislation, and—to say the least—the abortion lobby is freaking out. We can’t blame them, either; it’s pretty obvious that the Pro-Life Generation is coming to knock down their house of cards. Let’s discuss the latest pro-life development that is keeping the abortion lobby up at night:

Pro-life legislation is popping up everywhere.

In a recent article by Vice, entitled “Suddenly There’s a Rush of 15-Week Abortion Bans. Here’s Why,” the pro-abortion news outlet examined the “phenomenon” of multiple pro-life bills that are in the works in several different states. Specifically, there are three different 15-week abortion bans in process in Florida, Arizona, and West Virginia. To explain this occurrence, Elizabeth Nash, a representative from the rabidly pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, stated that these laws were springing up from pro-lifers whose ultimate goal was to totally abolish abortion.

She said, “Abortion opponents will not stop with a 15-week ban. They’ve been seeking total abortion bans for decades.”

Pigs might just have grown wings and started to fly because this is one time we can actually agree with the abortion lobby: We are 100% committed to seeing abortion become totally unavailable, and incremental laws are bringing us closer to that goal. Fifteen-week abortion bans are good because they halt abortions after such gestational age, but the reality is that 9 out of 10 abortions take place before 13 weeks according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). That means these bans are launching pads for even better legislation—and by better, we mean total abolition of abortion.

Nash also continued her estimation by saying that as of earlier this week, states have introduced at least 475 abortion restrictions so far this year. That’s right, and we’re only in the second month of 2022—can you imagine what that number will be by the end of the year? Doubled? Tripled? The Pro-Life Generation knows no limit.

This isn’t the first year our legislation has soared, either.

The abortion lobby was shaking in their boots last year, too. In April of 2021, the Guttmacher Institute posted an article beautifully entitled, “2021 is on Track to Become the Most Devastating Antiabortion State Legislative Session in Decades”—and we made sure of it. The group followed up with an end-of-year report that read like a song for the pro-life movement: “For the First Time Ever, U.S. States Enacted More Than 100 Abortion Restrictions in a Single Year.” Stop—you’re making us blush! We did work really hard and see wonderful achievements last year such as smashing the record for the most pro-life regulations enacted in a year.

You know what this means, Pro-Life Generation.

We can’t let all this momentum go to waste; we need to break last year’s record, too. Students for Life Action (SFLAction) is hard at work trying to do just that—they are in all 50 states working with pro-life representatives to pass life-affirming legislation. They’re working with lots of different legislation currently—on Heartbeat Bills, Life at Conception Bills, 15-Week Ban Bills, etc.—but SFLAction’s end goal in every state is the same: protection for every preborn child from the moment of conception. We need your help in this mission, too. Join SFLAction and get involved in the mission to end abortion step-by-step—we’re on the road to making America abortion-free.
