At the end of March 2025, not one but four Planned Parenthood facilities across the state of Illinois will be taking the first shuttle out for good.
Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) reports this is due to “a financial shortfall,” which seems to be a common course of demise for Planned Parenthood facilities recently. While these locations in Englewood-Chicago, Decatur, Ottawa, and Bloomington did not perform surgical abortions, they did distribute Chemical Abortion Pills to the communities, the most common form of abortion across America, making up more than 60% of abortions in the United States.
These closures are exceptionally good news for these communities and their residents. The Illinois State Students for Life group, neighboring the Bloomington Planned Parenthood, has been involved on the frontlines of the battle against abortion for years. Since the group’s founding in 2020, these students have led and participated in all types of pro-life activism, from supporting Pregnancy Help Centers (PHC) and educating their college peers to legislative door-knocking trips and praying outside the Bloomington Planned Parenthood. Not only are current students still involved in the cause of life, but some members of the group are still involved locally post-graduation.

Daniel Miller, a graduate of Illinois State University and former president of the Illinois State Students for Life group, has led the 40 Days for Life chapter in Bloomington, Illinois, for the past year. Through his leadership and dedication, Miller and his team in Bloomington have made a remarkable impact on their community, and no one is more pleased that Bloomington Planned Parenthood is shutting its doors for good.
“Today is a huge testament to the faithful work of so many in the Bloomington-Normal community since 1970 when Planned Parenthood opened in the area,” Miller told Students for Life of America (SFLA). “It is an incredible honor to have played a role in the closing of the facility through our prayerful campaign. Abortion numbers are up significantly in Illinois post-Roe; however, Illinois State University is the first major university in the state that will not have an abortion facility within a 40-minute drive. This can only be explained by the Lord’s intervention and His answer to our prayers. I also want to credit SFLA and all the students and staff for how they have poured into me and helped empower me to lead the vigil.”

While this is a great victory for Bloomington and the other three communities in Illinois, Planned Parenthood is already shifting its plans. As of February, PPIL has made Chemical Abortion Pills readily available through the PPDirect app to women across Illinois.
Miller warned of the same shift, saying, “There is still plenty more work to do, and Planned Parenthood has already shared they will optimize their business to sell their core product—abortions—through their app. I am hopeful that the Federal Drug Administration will reinstate previously repealed REMS restrictions on the abortion pill, which would end telehealth prescriptions as well as the mailing of the abortion pill.”
The battle for life in Illinois is far from over. But we can all take heart in knowing that four fewer communities are being directly targeted by the deceptive and dangerous abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
