After an investigation was launched into Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in Virginia after staff at Centreville High School allegedly used school funds to arrange abortions for minors without parental consent, California is now facing its own deeply troubling scandal.
A teacher at a Walnut Creek charter school is being sued for allegedly raping and impregnating a female student—and then begging her to get an abortion to protect his reputation. He is also facing criminal charges for raping a minor.

According to the lawsuit:
“Plaintiff discovered she was pregnant two months later in April. Flaherty was arrested in May of 2025 after he begged [the student] on a wiretapped phone call to have an abortion, saying she would ‘ruin’ his and his children’s lives if she kept the baby.”
Parents had already raised concerns about the teacher’s behavior, which included drinking and vaping with students. Still, school officials reportedly turned a blind eye.Eeven more alarming, is how the abortion industry often turns a blind eye to abuse. Chemical Abortion Pills, dangerous to both women and their preborn children, have become a tool for abusers to erase evidence of their crimes. Behind the scenes, the Chemical Abortion Pill industry operates like a shadow network, built on secrecy and enabling exploitation. Instead of protecting vulnerable women, it too often shields predators, making it easier for them to harm and hide.

Reports from outlets like the New York Times have highlighted how organizations like Planned Parenthood have allegedly failed to protect women and even helped abusers access these pills.
It is horrifying that this student was raped. It is even worse that the teacher allegedly pressured her to end her pregnancy to save himself.

She did not become another victim of someone secretly slipping Chemical Abortion Pills into her drink: a horrifying tactic that has become more common since the former Biden administration loosened regulations on these drugs, so anyone can lie about their identity and access them. While it is deeply disturbing that a grown man could allegedly groom, assault, and manipulate a child, it is also heartbreaking that we do not know whether she chose to keep her baby.
The bottom line: when abortion is easily accessible and poorly regulated, it creates a dangerous loophole for abusers to escape accountability, leaving behind broken lives and silenced victims.
Students for Life of America (SFLA) has been on the front lines of standing up for those who can’t speak for themselves. Only a few weeks ago, we held a “Stop Secret School Abortions” press conference in Fairfax County, urging transparency and accountability.
Through our recent campaign of activism, “Stop Pharmacy Abortions,” the Pro-Life Generation (PLG) remains committed to exposing how the abortion industry uses the deregulation of Chemical Abortion Pills to end more preborn lives and exploit vulnerable women. This campaign is not just about raising awareness; it’s about holding accountable those who profit from secrecy and harm and standing up for those who are often silenced.
In this case, and every case where the vulnerable are preyed upon, we hope justice is served and will not stop our activism until it is.
