Events to Urge Individual Pharmacies & Chains to “Just Say No” to Chemical Abortion Pills

“This year, we advanced efforts to defund Planned Parenthood, a Chemical Abortion Pill pusher, engaged in sterilizing treatments and direct abortions. Next up, getting pharmacies to make a stand for preborn babies by committing to never selling Chemical Abortion Pills,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins. “With up to 100 events planned nationwide, we’re renewing our objection to death distributed in our neighborhoods from pharmacies. All patients – born and preborn – deserve life-saving care.”

MEDIA ADVISORY: Protests to run from September 22nd to the 27th.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (09-18-2025) –For the second time, Students for Life of America (SFLA) will mobilize a national campaign to stop pharmacy distribution of Chemical Abortion Pills, renewing the Pro-Life Generation’s opposition to distributing the deadly drugs in our neighborhoods. The “Stop Pharmacy Abortions” protest week, September 22nd to the 27th, will feature events nationwide, urging individual pharmacies and national chains to protect women, preborn babies, and pharmacists’ professional and medical integrity to save lives, not end them. Headlining these 100 protests are two major rallies outside CVS Health Headquarters in Rhode Island and Walgreens Corporate Headquarters in Illinois, each of which will feature dynamic guest speakers who will address attendees and media with a call to action – keep our neighborhood pharmacies safe for ALL patients.

LEARN MORE: STOP PHARMACY ABORTIONS

“With changes to federal regulations under the former Biden-Harris Administration, for the first time, pharmacies can now opt-in to dispense Chemical Abortion Pills, a dangerous option for women and communities,” said Hawkins. “Pharmacies: Don’t OPT-IN to ending your patients’ and customers’ lives. The Pro-Life Generation won’t let you forget.”

LEARN MORE: This Is Chemical Abortion

The Week of Protests will include demonstrations at pharmacy locations across the country, delivery of letters to top pharmacy leadership, and educational outreach to inform the public about the risks and consequences of chemical abortions.

SFLA is calling on the top pharmacy chains in the nation to explicitly take a stand for Life and refrain from selling these dangerous drugs. As of September 2025:

  • Costco: Respected for its commitment to family-friendly values, Costco has publicly declined to sell Chemical Abortion Pills.
  • CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens: These chains have opted to sell the pills, despite public and legal controversy.
  • Albertsons, Amazon.com, Kroger, Publix, Safeway (a division of Albertsons), Walmart, Sam’s Club (division of Walmart): These companies have not yet begun to sell Chemical Abortion Pills, according to reports, though some are under pressure from lawmakers and advocates.

BACKGROUND:

This isn’t the first time SFLA has demanded immediate action from these CEOs. In March of 2024, Hawkins sent letters to the CEOs of some of the leading retail pharmacy locations in the country on the eve of the Supreme Court Case U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, in which approval of deadly Chemical Abortion Pills faces challenge over the FDA’s failures in adequately taking steps to ensure that women and young girls are not harmed even as young lives in the womb are ended. Additionally, we held a protest at the Walgreens National Headquarters.
