While the Trump Administration pardoned 23 peaceful pro-lifers from Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act convictions, that does not mean the fight for free speech is over.
Several states, such as New York and California, have tried to criminalize the services of Pregnancy Help Centers (PHCs), and now, it is happening in New Jersey.
This fall, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments from the faith-based First Choice Women’s Resource Centers in New Jersey. In 2023, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin started targeting this PHC by subpoenaing sensitive information about donors, staff, and advertisers out of fear that this center is “deceiving” women about abortion referrals.

Alliance Defending Freedom’s (ADF) Erin Hawley, counsel in the U.S. Food & Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine case, is representing the First Choice Women’s Resource Centers and, argues that this is a clear violation of First Amendment rights and his client is being singled out for being pro-life.
“The First Amendment protects First Choice’s right to freely speak about its beliefs, exercise its faith, associate with like-minded individuals and organizations, and continue to provide its free services in a caring and compassionate environment to people facing unplanned pregnancies,” Hawley said in a statement.
At issue, is the pro-abortion attorney general squashing the free speech rights of pro-life PHCs with oppressive legal action? Students for Life of America (SFLA) says yes.
Platkin claims “business as usual,” saying his investigation is legally grounded. It is hard to believe, given that he is a staunch abortion supporter. He called Roe v. Wade’s reversal a “devastating setback”. He assisted in filing an amicus brief in 2024 for the Food & Drug Administration’s (FDA) SCOTUS case in support of the Biden administration’s FDA.
The free speech fight has been long and hard-fought for the Pro-Life Generation (PLG). Whether it’s dealing with abortion biased school administrations, vandalism, and mobbing, or being silenced and arrested for pro-life beliefs. Radical Abortion supporters, be it students or politicians, as of late go after the Pro-Life Movement with a zealous hatred for Life.

They have no plans on slowing down. New York Attorney General Letitia James is suing Heartbeat International and 11 other pro-life organizations over Abortion Pill Reversal’s (APR) “false medical claims.” This claim is ludicrous, given that APR has saved 7,000 babies so far.
But, for politicians like James, that is precisely the problem, as she, among others, is a staunch supporter of preborn children’s death and despises obstacles from the Pro-Life Movement. Bottomline: abortion-hungry politicians like Platkin see free speech and First Amendment rights as a nuance to killing kids in the womb.
SFLA stands ready to support PHCs as this critical case makes it to the U.S. Supreme Court.
