A new Gallup poll highlights the Pro-Life Generation’s (PLG) continuing success at winning over hearts and minds, as it shows a growing number of Americans, embracing Life since the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision reversed Roe v. Wade in June 2022.
The mainstream media may run with headlines like “Pro-Choice Identity Prevailing Nationally Since Dobbs,” and “Gender Gap on Abortion Rights Grows from a Gorge to a Canyon,” but they ignore solid data showing a different story. Even though pro-abortion outlets claim there’s a widening gender gap in abortion views, in reality, America has overall shifted toward Life:
Let’s take a look at Gallup’s numbers:
- Pro-Life Support Increases: 43% of Americans now proudly claim the pro-life label—a two-point jump from last year—while the pro-choice crowd shrinks from 54% to 51%.
- What Gender Gap?: Gallup shows both men and women pulling back on their support for abortion. Pro-choice identification dropped from 44% to 41% among men and from 62% to 61% among women.
- Abortion is “Morally Wrong”: We see a slight increase last year to this year in the number of Americans who believe abortion is morally wrong from 37% to 40%. There also was drop from 54% to 49% in those calling abortion “morally acceptable.”
- Support for Protecting Life: We also saw an increase from 45% to 48% in those who believe abortion should be “legal in only a few” or “illegal in all circumstances along with a decline from 51% to 49% in support for making abortion “legal under any” or “most circumstances.”
These reveal a quiet shift as more Americans rethink the extreme abortion narrative they’ve been sold.
And if you thought abortion was becoming more popular, look at the numbers again. From 2024 to 2025, the data reveals a notable decline in the percentage of Democrats who view abortion as “morally acceptable,” dropping from 83% last year to 78% this year—a significant five-point difference. Republicans saw a similar shift with a six-point drop, with that number falling from 26% to 20%.
That’s momentum. The so-called “settled debate” is anything but settled, and despite billions poured into pro-abortion messaging, America isn’t buying it like it used to.
In an op-ed for the National Review, Dr. Michael New—assistant professor at the Catholic University of America and senior associate scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI)—wrote about the poll from Gallup saying, “Overall, pro-lifers should take heart…While there have been gains in support for legal abortion among Democrats and independent women, Republicans have actually become more pro-life in recent years.”
He also challenges the media narrative, arguing that “the mainstream media spin that there has been a large gain in public support for legal abortion is simply incorrect.”
“Despite an onslaught of negative media coverage, [support for Life] has remained remarkably durable,” Dr. New noted as more Americans push back against efforts to vilify pro-life laws.
The pro-life movement isn’t fading—it’s growing. While media elites create outdated narratives, more Americans continue to rethink abortion and embrace Life. The Dobbs decision sparked a cultural shift.
If Gallup’s latest numbers tell us anything: the momentum now belongs to Life, not abortion.
