GUEST POST: The Satanic Temple has become so widely known for its pro-abortion antics that TikTok videos are now encouraging people to become members of the Satanic Temple in order to undergo abortions in pro-life states. The message appears to be: “Want to keep killing babies? Join the Satanic Temple!” That seems straightforward. The only snag for abortion-loving Satanists is, despite the IRS’s recognition of the Satanic Temple as a tax-exempt church, the courts have yet to treat seriously its “religious” claims about abortion.
The Satanic Temple filed specious lawsuits in federal courts against Indiana and Idaho for their strong pro-life laws. In an attempted perversion of religious freedom protections, the Satanic Temple, based in Salem, Massachusetts, claims that pro-life laws prevent people in Indiana and Idaho from exercising their religious rights.
The Satanic Temple has previously filed lawsuits challenging the Texas Heartbeat Bill and a pro-life Missouri law on similar grounds. Attempting wrongly to use the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the Satanic Temple, which defines itself as a “nontheistic religious group,” claims its members have a religious right to killing preborn babies.
In 2020, the Supreme Court refused to consider the Satanic Temple’s challenge to the Missouri pro-life law. Other challenges are likely to fail, but abortion supporters are still hopeful that the perverse “religious status” of abortion within the Satanic Temple will lead to a successful legal challenge.
According to the Satanic Temple, pro-life laws deny the right of an “involuntarily pregnant woman” to engage in the “Satanic Abortion Ritual.” In case you didn’t know what a “Satanic Abortion Ritual” is, the Satanic Temple appears to have invented it as a means of undermining pro-life protections. Under the tagline “Thyself Is Thy Master,” the website of the Satanic Temple outlines the ritual, which includes gazing in a mirror and repeating tenets of the Satanic Temple.
The website of the Satanic Temple claims that the abortion ritual “sanctifies the abortion process by instilling confidence and protecting bodily rights” when undergoing an abortion. Interesting that there is no mention of the preborn child who also has bodily rights and an inviolable bodily autonomy obliterated by the dismembering, fatal violence of abortion.
Like other abortion supporters, the Satanic Temple members try to claim something “sacred” about ending an innocent human life. Ironically, the Satanic Temple says its mission is to “reject tyrannical authority” and “oppose injustice.” What could be a greater injustice than the mass slaughter of innocent and defenseless human beings in their mothers’ wombs?
Apparently, that doesn’t bother President Joe Biden, who made a bizarre statement in a recent tweet in which he called for abortion to be federal law … through all nine months et al.
“My dad used to say, ‘Joey, don’t compare me to the Almighty. Compare me to the alternative,’” Biden wrote. “And here’s the deal: Democrats want to codify Roe. Republicans want a national ban on abortion. The choice is clear.”
On that we agree … it’s not the Almighty, but “the alternative” in favor of Biden’s abortion policy.
With the Satanic Temple suing pro-life states and the Democrat Party advocating for abortion on demand up to birth, using a Satan analogy is just not great optics.
However insincere the “religious” claims are, the Satanic Temple is now one of the most vocal groups filing lawsuits against life-saving, pro-life laws.
When people know the facts about the Democratic Party’s extreme position on abortion, they vote for life. When the Satanists start publicly advocating for the sacred ritual of killing preborn babies, most people think it’s a Halloween stunt at first. When they realize this is not just theater, they are likely to be seriously disturbed.
The choice is clear: Do we want to live in a nation that protects the most vulnerable? Or do we want to live in a country that recognizes the perverse “religious” right to violently end an innocent human life in the name of personal choice? The abortion lobby has decided that abortion is their religion. Such a violent and unjust “religion” has no place in our society.
The Satanic Temple and their friends in the White House have shown their cards; it is up to voters to make sure they do not have their way.
