This fall, Students for Life’s “All Human Life is Valuable” National Campus Tour hit 168 campuses nationwide with a simple but poignant message: Every human is equally valuable, regardless of external factors like age and location. On good days, this display changed the minds of students about the human dignity of preborn babies. But on the BEST days, it even saved lives from the violence of abortion.
In late October, SFLA’s Alicia Foreman visited Fayetteville Technical Community College in North Carolina to partner with the school’s Turning Point USA chapter to host this powerful display. The activism was going well and the conversations with passing college students were fruitful. Alicia noted, “Toward the end of our display time, there was a shift in demographic as the college students left and were replaced by high school students, as Fayetteville Tech has a partnership with the local high school for their students to get a jump on college credit.”
It was in the final moments of their tabling time that three high school girls approached and struck up a conversation with Alicia about the display material. It was quickly apparent that they held pro-abortion views, yet, upon being presented with biological and philosophical truths about preborn babies, all three changed their minds.

But the story doesn’t end there.
During the conversation, one of the girls, “T,” confided in Alicia that she had just found out she was pregnant and, even though she thought her family would be supportive, she still planned to seek an abortion in secret. She went on to explain that before she approached our display and talked with Alicia, she hadn’t realized that her baby really was a unique, valuable, unrepeatable human — even from his or her first moment of existence. Yet, even after that new realization, she confessed having no idea how to manage choosing Life for her baby.

Here marks the key difference between pro-life advocacy and pro-abortion bullying. The facts remain the facts, regardless of ideological persuasion: Humans are human from the beginning, and they are deserving of human rights starting at that point. Where an abortion supporter tabling on campus would suggest to this young girl that she’s incapable of embracing her child and that violence is the only answer, a pro-life advocate paints a picture of empowerment, hope, and help.

On the spot, Alicia pulled up SFLA’s StandingWithYou.org and showed T the wealth of resources in her area, many of which are volunteer-operated and free of charge to women. In response to T’s concerns, Alicia illustrated that there was a life-affirming solution. The tragedy of today’s Culture of Death, which dominates the social media feeds of young women like T, is that she had no idea such support existed. It hadn’t even occurred to her.
By the grace of God and the advocacy of this Turning Point/SFLA partnership in Fayetteville, a young, pregnant student went from pro-choice and abortion-minded to pro-life and connected to local resources who will empower her to embrace her baby and her dreams. Not to mention, the Turning Point members are committed to walking with T during her pregnancy — even throwing her a baby shower — and beyond. This is the Pro-Life Generation in action.
