Students for Life of America (SFLA) stands up for Life every day. Last month, however, we made our voices heard at two major Planned Parenthood events, showing the strength and resolve of our movement in the face of adversity and potential (and almost certain) hostility.
On the evening of September 16th, the Pro-Life Generation (PLG) gathered in Indianapolis to protest the open house for Planned Parenthood’s new administrative office. We’re always disheartened when a new Planned Parenthood building opens its doors, but we’re determined to ensure the pro-life message is heard loud and proud.

Student leaders took the opportunity to gather information about Planned Parenthood’s evolving strategies in Indiana, learning that the organization is scrambling to recover from the loss of Medicaid funding after President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Budget Bill” was signed on July 4th. Among their new initiatives:
- Offering “bundle packages” of services.
- Providing sedation options for IUD placements.
- Expanding into menopausal care.
These moves were clearly desperate attempts to create new revenue streams in a state where abortion is no longer legal.
Rachel Brown, Planned Parenthood’s Indiana Area Services Director, argued that Title X funds should be a “right, not a privilege.” Federal tax dollars should never support the slaughter of our preborn children.
The organization also confirmed a reduction in active abortion vendors—now ten, following the permanent closure of their Evansville location. Even more alarming, was a report from Haley Bougher of the Indiana State Director Alliance, who noted a staggering 2,400% increase in congenital syphilis rates in Indiana, a statistic attributed to the normalization of sexual activity by organizations like Planned Parenthood, rather than the promotion of responsibility and a life-affirming culture.

Perhaps the most shocking revelation was the location of this new office: inside the Indiana Interchurch Center, a church facility in Indianapolis.
This center, supported by denominations already known for their pro-abortion stance, now houses Planned Parenthood and other similar organizations. For many Christians, this is a betrayal of faith and values, as the center claims the name of Christ while supporting organizations that exploit women and destroy families.
Just two days later, on September 18th, the Austin Campaign for Abortion Free Cities, in partnership with Horns for Life at the University of Texas, peacefully protested Planned Parenthood’s donor gala, “A Night Under the Stars,” at the Long Center for the Performing Arts.

As guests arrived, dressed in Planned Parenthood’s pink, pro-life advocates stood across the street, their signs bearing messages of truth and hope: “God created mankind in His image,” “Choose Life,” and reminders of what Planned Parenthood really stands for: not pink and ponies but deceit and death.
For nearly two hours, the group interacted with passersby, offering resources and sharing information about local pregnancy and parenting support. Some attendees avoided eye contact, while others paused to read the signs or even expressed gratitude for the group’s presence. The evening was not without hostility; some drivers responded with anger, but the resolve of the pro-life advocates only grew stronger. Even staff working at the event expressed their personal disagreement with Planned Parenthood’s mission.
Even in the face of opposition, truth resonates, and when advocates show up with conviction and compassion, hearts can be moved, even in the most unexpected places.
