Students for Life Action and the Pro-Life Generation Calls on President Trump and His Head of HHS to: End the Weaponized Abuse of Agencies by Big Abortion Pharma & Protect the Environment from Pills Recklessly Approved
“Given RFK Jr’s long-term advocacy on behalf of the environment and his concerns for how federal agencies have abused their authority, we believe we can work with him,” said Students for Life Action’s Kristan Hawkins. “Chemical Abortion Pill policy has been weaponized by three Democratic Party Presidents. We need new leadership at HHS, the FDA, the EPA, and throughout the government; leadership prepared to protect women, the preborn, and the environment from the reckless distribution of deadly pills. Allowing this negligence to facilitate a fast sale of Chemical Abortion Pills helps abusers and President Trump’s political adversaries – Planned Parenthood and company.”
MEDIA ADVISORY: Watch Kristan Hawkins’ X (formerly Twitter) feed during the hearing for real-time reaction.

WASHINGTON D.C. (01-29-2025) –Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins said that the Pro-Life Generation will be watching as President Trump’s nominee for Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., begins confirmation hearings this week. Hawkins observed: “President Trump talked about this Administration’s commitment to ‘crystal clear water’ at campaign stops nationwide. Message received, Mr. President. We are here to help you with that. In the name of COVID, the Biden-Harris Administration set up de facto permission for dumping pathological medical waste – chemically tainted blood, placenta tissue, and human remains – into America’s drinking water when they championed no test, online distribution of deadly Chemical Abortion Pills. A weaponized HHS and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) dropped health and safety standards to allow the Democratic Party’s allies in Big Abortion Pharma to profit from a fast sale. At the very least, clean water and patient safety should motivate FDA and HHS policy, not a desire for more abortion.”
Writing for The Federalist, Hawkins also noted it’s important at HHS to “balance the ticket” by including pro-life policy and environmental experts.
She wrote: “Especially at HHS, balancing the proverbial ticket — of vision and values, and of inside- and outside-the-Beltway experience — assures those committed to the success of the presidency that it will be done right. Personnel is policy, meaning that bringing on committed pro-life conservatives would communicate a hopeful direction for health care change that embraces all Americans, born and preborn … Americans need RFK Jr. and a motivated team underneath him to do a serious examination of the Department of Health and Human Services, which long ago abandoned the goal to Make America Healthy Again for abortion zealotry. Funding and mandates for abortion infiltrate HHS like a cancer that needs to be cut out. Those who have seen the inside must be engaged in that kind of operation … “
STOPPING WEAPONIZED CHEMICAL ABORTION PILL POLICY IS POPULAR:
Just last week, Students for Life of America’s (SFLA) Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement released a YouGov/Survey USA poll of registered Millennial and Gen Z voters (now 48.5% of the electorate.) We found support for protecting women’s lives and fertility along with the environment increased in intensity; while more than 9 in 10 support protection, the number of those strongly supporting rose.
FROM THE DATA RELEASE: Chemical Abortion Pill efforts to protect lives, fertility, and the environment are wildly popular with younger voters, with more than 9 in 10 embracing protections.
- Ultrasound screening to save lives from ectopic pregnancy: 92% feel it’s important to have screenings before distributing the deadly pills, with 41% saying it/s extremely important
- Blood testing to protect fertility: 92% support this protection with 39% saying it’s extremely important
- Studies on the potential environmental impact of waste and drugs related to abortion: 90% support conducting such testing, with 32% saying it’s extremely important
- Red Bag Medical Waste disposal to protect the environment: 90% support this addition to the health and safety standards, with 33% saying it’s extremely important
- In person care/screening to protect from abusers getting the pills without women’s knowledge or consent: 66% support this common-sense protection
- MORE THAN HALF — 52% — said they view a legislator favorably when the official protected people and the environment from the negative impacts of abortion, with 22% saying very favorably
- SFLAction submitted a letter to Congress, alongside forty other pro-life leaders, to demand the EPA conduct regular and comprehensive environmental testing of PFAs just like any other “forever chemical.”
- We also submitted a legal analysis to the EPA with detailed reasons to track Chemical Abortion Pills.
- SFLA filed an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court for the S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine.
- In multiple states, SFLAction has lobbied to introduce and ensure passage of laws that would protect the environment from pollutants in Chemical Abortion Pills.
- Additionally, we submitted five petitions to the FDA demanding they:
- Add Red Bag Medical Waste requirements to reduce Chemical Abortion Pill pollution.
- Restore high health and safety standards (known as REMS – Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies) to protect women’s lives.
- Complete studies to ensure protection for endangered species.
- Comply with the Clean Water Act by requiring protection for water, especially recreational water.
- Halt the relabeling of Chemical Abortion Pills for ANY use until the environmental tests are completed.
- SFLA also launched the What’s In The Water? Campaign to illustrate the full scope and impact of the damage that Chemical Abortion Pill pollutants in the wastewater can cause.
