Abortion remains a considerable issue in pro-life states like Kentucky, a state that prohibits abortion through all nine months. Even though Kentucky has pro-life laws, that doesn’t mean every citizen is automatically pro-life. Minds still need to be changed, which means choosing life can still be difficult when a woman, including a student, becomes unexpectedly pregnant and faces pressure to abort out-of-state or take deadly mail-in Chemical Abortion Pills. Just because the law prohibits abortion doesn’t mean the pro-life movement can quit working; vulnerable, abortion-minded women need someone telling them they can be successful in their education, career, and motherhood.
The incredible Students for Life of America (SFLA) group at the University of Louisville encompasses this initiative, which is why they’re the November Group of the Month.
Founded in 2009 as a pro-life group and a part of SFLA since 2021, this group is dedicated to “protecting the life and affirming the dignity of every human person from conception to natural death and supporting expectant and new mothers both on campus and in the community.” Their success in this mission is due to their tireless work, dedication, and diligence.
In a pro-choice-leaning city like Louisville, and even more so at a university where pro-choice is the default, making a dent for the Pro-Life Generation (PLG) can be a challenge, but Louisville Students for Life took the challenge head-on, showing women that they don’t need abortion. From chalking life-affirming messages around campus to dropping literature at students’ doors throughout the year to making a rapid response to abortion misinformation on campus to hosting tours like the Stop Abortion Extremism and Go Fund Yourself Planned Parenthood, the limit was the sky for this passionate group.
The group hosted an annual Dine and Dance to make some (literal) noise about Lighthouse Maternity Home while raising money and (metaphorically) light the way for expecting female students to get help. Despite their long hours setting up the group’s biggest event of the year, they did so with smiles.
“I know it can be hard to stand up for what is right in the face of adversity,” said Adele Schultz, president of Louisville Students for Life. “It can be discouraging to see the lack of respect for life on our campus, but knowing that what we’re doing here could help change even just one woman’s mind about keeping her child makes it all worth it.”
While the future of abortion in Kentucky is still uncertain, with new lawsuits outstanding, one thing is for sure: no matter the lies that the abortion industry tries to push, Louisville Students for Life will always be right there in front of them, pushing back for Life!
Thank you, Louisville Students for Life, and congratulations on winning Group of the Month!
