In case you hadn’t heard, when then-President Donald Trump appointed three Supreme Court Justices to the high court after vacancies naturally opened up during his administration, justices who had read the Constitution and who cared about what it said stated the obvious: Abortion is NOT in the fine print. And the tyranny of Roe v. Wade came to an end as the Supreme Court allowed all our elected officials to weigh in on the human rights issue of our day – abortion. 

But what are radical abortion supporters to do when judges read and follow the law as written? Get rid of them and drown out their voices with loud dissenters, of course. Right now, the exiting President Joe Biden, with the support of his self-appointed second for his party’s nomination, is fighting for a plan to go after the Supreme Court, a long-term agenda item of the activist left. 

Running to abortion bullies, activist judges scattered through our “justice” system is the go-to strategy for Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and other activist groups, all of which have sulked on an epic scale as the law-minded judges appointed during the Trump Administration follow the law.  And it’s been extremely frustrating for the liberal, abortion-loving left as justices have ended their lock on Federal Agency power and Abortion “law,” loosely defined by what they want, not what has been agreed to by voters or confirmed by legislators.

Thankfully, the abortion lobby’s losses in court didn’t just include direct abortion cases. Still, a legal fiction called Chevron deference allowed federal agencies to make up the rules as they went along. For example, on the abortion issue, the FDA, in particular, has singlehandedly forced radical changes, all to the delight of those who push Chemical Abortion Pills.

With less than six months left in his presidency, Biden wants a major restructuring, calling “dramatic changes in the court have little chance of being approved by a closely divided Congress with 99 days before Election Day,” reports the Associated Press. Rather than a lifetime appointment of judges committed to intellectual decision-making about issues outside of political calculations like getting elected, he wants term limits that will allow presidents to swap out troublesome Justices and different ethics standards (which is relevant as activists have attacked conservative icon Justice Clarence Thomas and want more leeway to go after him.) 

While Biden is exiting, the issue remains alive as the presumed Democratic Party nominee for President, Kamala Harris, seconds his motion.  

Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins called out the political left for attempting to disrupt the balance of power to get the outcomes they wanted. She said: “A Democratic Party on the run returns to their bullying tactics as they openly attempt to manipulate the third branch of government – the judiciary – as they struggle to control the legislative and executive branches. This is not only a sign of their weakness and desperation, but it also represents a threat to the balance of powers. Judges do not owe abortion-loving politicians a place to force their agenda, and President Biden, who once was a leader on the Senate Judiciary Committee, should be able to remember that  a true threat to democracy happens when one party manipulates the rules to use the courts against their fellow citizens.”

Biden did not call for “court-packing,” which means adding extra judges to the panel to drown out the conservative voices already there. Still, Harris is already on record for her support for trying to game the system by allowing a president to add extra judges. 

Newsweek reports that in 2019 “Harris was asked at an event in Nashua, New Hampshire, whether she would support adding four new Supreme Court justices to the bench. According to Bloomberg, she replied: ‘I’m open to this conversation about increasing the number of people on the United States Supreme Court.’”

While everyone agrees that this will not happen before the election, the ELECTION is what this is about. Democratic Party activists want to push frenzied pro-abortion voters to the polls with the dream of drowning out any pro-life opposition … or followers of the law as written (rather than made up by those on the bench.) 

The influential legal tactician Leonard Leo told FOX that the strategy could fail.

“President Biden putting the Supreme Court into play does have the potential to energize conservatives in the presidential election,” he said. “We know from experience that the court issue has always motivated conservatives and Republicans more than it motivated Democrats and liberals. So, there’s a good chance that by putting this issue in full view, it just allows the Trump campaign and Republican candidates for the Senate and House to talk about the successes we’ve had with the Constitution and the rule of law, the Supreme Court over the past several years, and that we should want more of the same. So, it could potentially backfire.”

Clearly, once again, pro-life voters will need to vote Pro-Life First by continuing to value the election of those who can appoint influential judges. To that end, the Pro-Life Generation is calling on GOP Candidate President Trump for a New Deal in which pro-life and pro-law appointments to federal agencies, the cabinet, and courts are again prioritized.
