A New Dream for the Pro-Life Movement

“This day marks both the celebration of a battle won and a moment to rally the troops for our new opportunities,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins. “We are no longer hampered by the 1973 Roe decision in light of the 2022 Dobbs ruling, and we’re excited to finally have more places to fight for the right to Life. It’s time to collectively reach for a new dream: The 14th Amendment For All.  With Roe gone, we can re-affirm the obvious: our nation was built on the hope of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all of us, including those not yet born.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-14-2023) – Students for Life of America (SFLA), 40 Days for Life, Live Action, and Pro-Life Partners Foundation are uniting to host a National Celebrate Life Day Rally as well as a Gala on the first anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling to celebrate the reversal of Roe v. Wade and to inspire the pro-life community to make abortion both unavailable and unthinkable nationwide. Both events will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023; individual information on each event is below. The purpose is to honor the dedication, sacrifices, and innovations made by many unsung heroes over the first 49 years of the pro-life movement, as well as to lay out a vision of where to go next: achieving national protection for preborn Americans under the 14thAmendment of the Constitution.

ON CONSTITUTIONAL PROTECTIONS FOR ALL: “The 14th Amendment clearly reads that no state shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or equal protection under the law, yet this is exactly what abortion does to our most vulnerable citizens,” said Hawkins. “Understanding the inclusion and protection of the preborn under this amendment is important to the Pro-Life Generation who will be acting on this legal reality in our legal and legislative drives.”

SFLA recently released a 2023 YouGov-Vinea poll which featured Millennial and Gen Z voters’ nuanced views on abortion policy. Seven in 10 of these voters report wanting limits on abortion, but by margins of more than 9 in 10, Gen Z & Gen Y reject the No Test, Online Distribution of Chemical Abortion Pills as pushed by the Biden Administration which exposes them to injury, infertility, death, and abusers.

LEADING UP TO THE DOBB WIN: SFLA worked tirelessly in Mississippi and Washington D.C., drawing attention to the importance of the now historic case. SFLAction and the SCOTUS SQUAD has been a fixture at the Supreme Court on decision days and in protest during court-related events. As Students for Life has previously reported, the Pro-Life, now Post-Roe, Generation:

  • Filed an amicus brief with Human Coalition Action detailing that Roe is “egregiously wrong,” has harmed women and minority communities, and is pushed on women who don’t need abortion to thrive
  • Launched a “See Me Now Ultrasound Live Bus Tour,” endorsed by Mississippi Attorney General Fitch, that began in Jackson, MS, and ended at the Supreme Court.
  • Worked with the MS AG’s office on events at the Supreme Court  along with a Watch Party in Jackson, MS.
  • Engaged in numerous live events detailing plans for a Post-Roe America, along with leading pro-life activists and office holders.
  • Promoted the issues and team defending life in law, detailed on a podcast with Hawkins and General Fitch available here.
  • Championed a post-Roe strategy of protecting life in service and in law, as reported at USA Today.

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization and a political and policy operation engaging people of all ages. Together they work to end abortion — the human rights issue of our day — and provide political, legal, and community support for women and their children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA has more than 1,300 groups on middle, high school, college, university, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA creates strategy, policy, and programming to connect those most targeted for abortion with people ready to help and builds a framework for political engagement on their behalf. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with those most targeted by the abortion industry than any other pro-life outreach in the world, reaching more than 2 million people across social media platforms each week and engaging in approximately 100,000 digital conversations per month. Over more than 16 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA into an $18 million organization preparing for a Post-Roe America.
