Last week, Mayor De Blasio of New York found himself under fire for saying he was going to send the police after people who are Jewish if they continue to have funerals with crowds. Tweeting about dispersing a crowd of thousands, De Blasio, lacking any basic awareness, said, “my message to the Jewish community, and all communities, is this simple: the time for warnings has passed.” Just going to let that one sit there for a minute while we move on to another issue.

The New York City Council Speaker, Corey Johnson, said that he wants to boot Samaritan’s Purse from the city, after they had set up emergency health care facilities and charitable care to help alleviate the potential crush on health care and social services due to the coronavirus. Johnson tweeted,

“It is time for Samaritan’s Purse to leave NYC. This group, led by the notoriously bigoted, hate-spewing Franklin Graham, came at a time when our city couldn’t in good conscience turn away any offer of help. That time has passed.”

According to the Washington Examiner, “Samaritan’s Purse is in the process of winding down operations at the field hospital it set up in Central Park last month. No new patients will be admitted to the facility starting Monday, and the 40 remaining staff members will stay within the Mount Sinai system and be redeployed to Beth Israel Hospital.”

Johnson’s bigotry echoes that of Mayor De Blasio (not the above anti-Semitism, no De Blasio is also bigoted against Christians.)

When Samaritan’s Purse first announced they were coming into New York City to help the neediest, De Blasio redirected city workers to ‘monitor’ the group. He didn’t redirect them to help clean the park and subways more to reduce the spread of coronavirus, nor did he direct city workers to work at city hospitals. He directed them to monitor Samaritan’s Purse.

As reported by The Blaze, “Samaritan’s Purse set up a facility with 68 beds for the coronavirus patients, an attempt to ease the burden of overwhelmed hospitals in New York City. De Blasio expressed distrust that the organization would treat LGBTQ people equally, and reportedly sent city staffers to the site to monitor the situation.”
