As the 2024-2025 academic year comes to a close, Students for Life of America (SFLA) will be awarding several outstanding Students for Life groups with Best New Group, Best High School Group, Best College Group, and Best Standing With You (SWY) Group distinctions – and you get to help us choose which groups deserve these awards! Newton Classical Conversations Students for Life has been nominated for the Best High School Group of the Year Award.
The winning group from each category, selected by the Pro-Life Generation (PLG), will receive a certificate, a shoutout on our national social media accounts, and a $300 donation to help expand the group’s efforts further next school year.
About the Group
Newton Classical Conversations Students for Life was established in 2023 and has over 15 active members. Despite their size, the group hosted 18 events this year, including a large community pro-life panel featuring five pro-life leaders, fundraising over $4,000 for the local Pregnancy Help Center (PHC), and participating in multiple door knocking and lobby days.
They have been nominated for the best High School Group of the Year for their commitment to the preborn and the women facing unplanned pregnancies in their community and for participating in abortion on the ballot initiatives no matter the distance during the 2024-2025 academic year!

Groups are nominated for the High School Group of the Year award for going above and beyond in the Five Pillars of Pro-Life Activism in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Newton Classical Conversations Students for Life’s Top Accomplishments in the 2024-2025 Academic Year
Annual Winter Community Potluck and Speaking Event
Newton Classical Conversations has a strong passion for educating their community. Each year, they host the annual Winter Community Potluck and Speaking Event, where the community gathers to hear from various pro-life professionals. This year, the speaker panel included Jennifer and Baylee Woodward of Love Life USA, Heather Parks, Nurse Director at Heartbeats Women’s Center, Lydia Taylor Davis from SFLA, and Tina Maria Bloomer, State Director of Concerned Women for America. With 50 people in attendance, this event inspired the community to take a stand for Life and become more involved in the Pro-Life Movement.

Fundraising for Pregnancy Help Organizations
This group has fostered a strong partnership with Heartbeats Women’s Center and Pregnancy Care Center of Catawba Valley, two local PHCs. Since their founding in 2023, they have raised over $4,000 to benefit these two PHCs as they provide lifesaving care for women and their babies. Through their local Walks for Life, Newton Classical Conversations raised over $3,000. They also organized frequent bake sales and a Dance for Life that raised an additional $1,000 to benefit these two PHCs.

Chemical Abortion and Lobbying Efforts
With Chemical Abortion sharply on the rise, this group stands ready to stop its local influence. They spend their weekends distributing conversation cards and engaging with people at the local farmers market. They regularly have a pro-life presence in front of their local Walgreens to raise awareness and discourage them from selling Chemical Abortion Pills in their stores. Additionally, Newton Classical Conversations sent two representatives to lobby at the North Carolina capitol for the Life at Conception Bill and for the Clean Water Act, which would keep Chemical Abortion Pills out of their water. They delivered hundreds of petitions to their officials, and eventually, the Life at Conception Bill was introduced by Rep. Keith Kidwell. Though the bill was ultimately killed, it was a massive win for this group to get a pro-life bill introduced!

COMING SOON IN 2025-2026…
Newton Classical Conversations Students for Life hopes to continue their leadership on campus by partnering with Queen City Students for Life to restart the Abortion Free Cities Campaign in Charlotte, North Carolina during the 2025-2026 academic year. With no plans of backing down against the culture of death, this group also plans to sharpen their apologetics skills this summer with monthly discussions of the book Persuasive Pro-Life by Trent Horn and to engage in a student-led mock debate where members can practice their dialogue skills.
