“If you’re unclear whether abortion is a federal AND state issue, today’s hearing at the Supreme Court should remove all doubt,” said Students for Life Action’s Savanna Deretich. “Pregnancy is not a disease cured by abortion, and this offensive attack on state’s rights shows that Joe Biden’s team will abuse any program to ensure more die by intentional abortion.”

MEDIA ALERT: Reporters are invited to attend Wednesday’s rally at the U.S. Supreme Court, beginning at 10 a.m. ET.

WASHINGTON D.C. (04-24-2024) — Students for Life of America (SFLA) will be outside the U.S. Supreme Court in support of Idaho’s efforts to treat BOTH mother and preborn child in emergency rooms across the state. As we’ve previously reported, the case, State of Idaho v. United States, centers around a regulation called EMTALA — the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act – designed to require hospitals to stabilize all patients in the emergency room, regardless of their ability to payAccording to an NIH published report: “In July 2022, the (Department of Health and Human Services) HHS issued guidance to clarify that EMTALA requires abortion care despite contrary state laws” — also claiming that federal law trumped states laws on abortion. (emphasis added). Basically, Biden’s HHS tried to change a regulation to force states that respect preborn life to commit abortions in emergency rooms.

At Wednesday’s event at the high court, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) Government Affairs Coordinator Savanna Deretich will make the following remarks:

“If you’re unclear whether abortion is a federal AND state issue, today’s hearing at the Supreme Court should remove all doubt. The Biden Administration’s weaponization of policy is unprecedented and can be seen in the Biden Administration’s misuse of EMTALA — the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act – a measure designed to ensure that poor people who can’t pay received medical care in an emergency room. EMTALA has been twisted by Biden’s abortion radicals to demand that in states with protective laws that embrace the preborn be forced to allow abortions in an ER.

“As Kristan Hawkins, SFLAction president, has said, ‘When a pregnant mother goes to an emergency room in Idaho, courageous medical professionals rush to help two patients. For that kind of heroism, Idaho will be at the Supreme Court fighting back against another weaponized program, tainted by the anti-baby bias of the Biden Administration.”

“If your ‘healthcare’ kills people on purpose, you’re doing it wrong.

“The lawsuit that began in 2022 represents the radicalism of the Biden Administration, seen clearly since the Dobbs decision, as the abortion industrial complex pushes to go even further than Roe ever did.

“For example, the Democrats are pushing hard to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would allow abortions to be committed up until birth nationwide, without any ability for the states to push back, demand taxpayer funding, and trample on the conscience rights of medical professionals.

“Likewise, the Democrats have opposed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act – their fealty to corporate abortion (and the dollars Planned Parenthood, among other abortion vendors, put in their pockets) extends to infanticide survivors from botched abortions.

“Pregnancy is not a disease cured by abortion, and this offensive attack on state’s rights shows that Joe Biden’s team will abuse any program to ensure more die by intentional abortion.

Students for Life Action applauds Idaho for standing up for themselves against President Biden and the radical pro-abortion extremists. We stand with you!”

SFLA is engaged in additional cases before the Supreme Court, including efforts to stop the reckless distribution of dangerous Chemical Abortion pills, debated in U.S. Food & Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine.
