Sen. Manchin Will Disappoint and Betray Pro-Life Americans Nationwide if His Vote Allows Radical Abortion Litigator Xavier Becerra to Control the Nation’s Healthcare

“I hope that reports of Sen. Joe Manchin’s support for Xavier Becerra are ‘fake news,’” said Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins. “The California Attorney General’s primary healthcare experience comes from suing medical professionals in court, such as trying to force the distribution of Chemical Abortion drugs during a pandemic. He has neither the temperament nor the experience to lead our healthcare policy.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (03-11-2021) – Responding to a report from National Review indicating that Sen. Joe Manchin is planning to cast the deciding vote allowing abortion radical Xavier Becerra to head up the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Student for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins said that she hoped this was “fake news” and added: “California’s Attorney General Xavier Becerra is best known for abusing the power of his office against those who disagree with him on abortion. It would both profoundly disappoint and betray pro-Life Americans nationwide if Sen. Manchin empowers someone known for suing nuns, support services for pregnant women, pro-life journalists, and the FDA in a pandemic. Becerra is unqualified for the position and should not be allowed in an oversight role to pressure the FDA to drop health and safety standards to suit his abortion agenda.”

Students for Life Action is scoring a vote on Becerra as a key vote.

Leading opposition efforts against this nomination since December, Hawkins explained the many reasons why the “famously partisan” attorney was a bad choice in an op-ed up at USA Today.

In opposition to Becerra for head of HHS, SFLAction has also:
