The Pro-Life Generation is no stranger to being on the receiving end of violence from pro-abortion extremists. Sadly, it happened again today in Richmond, Virginia, when a trans activist charged marchers at a pro-life march in the downtown core. 

The video from the incident was captured by Students for Life Action (SFLAction) Government Affairs Coordinator Savanna Deretich who said:  

“Apparently this activist is infamous and has appeared at events like this before. He came rushing forward, chanting something, and I knew he was going to attack so I pulled out my phone to record it. He sprinted up to our people, knocked the glasses off people’s heads, dashed through our march sign, and kept running. I saw he was arrested by police sometime later.”

Joshua Yamashita, an Invictus Fellow, also got assaulted by a local activist who ripped our banner from our hands and then slammed into Yamashita. SFLAction has written previously about the violence against the pro-life movement – ranging from literal assault to verbal abuse to vandalism. Some examples include:

In addition to this violence from activists, government agencies has likewise targeted and oppressed the pro-life movement, including abusing the powers of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. 

To name a few incidents: 

• In October 2020, operated by the late-term abortionist Cesare Santangelo, five protestors were found guilty of FACE Act violations at the Washington Surgi-Clinic.  
• A pro-life protestor named Mark Houck was arrested at his home in front of his children in 2022 for protesting peacefully outside of a Planned Parenthood facility. 
• A Students for Life of America (SFLA) staff member was likewise arrested for sidewalk-chalking on a public street in front of an abortion facility in Washington D.C. in 2021. Thankfully, in 2023, the courts ruled in favor of SFLA.

Thankfully, Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX-21) is helping to push back against this abuse of power, with the introduction of FACE Act Repeal Act of 2023, H.R. 5577. 

Ultimately, whether it’s unhinged, violent activists or weaponized government bureaucracies or policies, the Pro-Life Generation isn’t going anywhere, and we will not be silenced.
