June 6 marks the beginning of our Missionaries for Life program! Ten students will come to Washington, D.C. to work in the pro-life movement for nine weeks–three at SFLA headquarters, three at another pro-life organization, and three weeks on Capitol Hill! We can’t wait to bring in these young pro-life leaders and watch them grow intellectually, and in their passion for defending human life.

At the annual Activism & Training Weekend, college students from across the state come together to engage in a weekend of pro-life activism and leadership training. This event is unique because students have the opportunity to share ideas and connect with other Students for Life clubs all while promoting life on Grand Valley’s campus. In the training portion of the weekend, students will learn skills such as recruitment, event planning, and fundraising. The focus of the this year’s training is to help Students for Life clubs transition leadership and plan for a successful fall semester. This conference is open to everyone, but will be primarily oriented towards high school and college students. The conference will include speakers, workshops, hands on projects, and social time. Participants will be coming from Buffalo, Syracuse, and all points in between. Topics will include “The Scientific Proof of Life Beginning at Conception,” “Making the Case for Being Pro-Life,” “What Can I Do If I Find Out A Friend Is Pregnant,” and “A Personal Account of Post Abortion Trauma.” Pizza and snacks will be provided. There will be a t-shirt design contest, a button design station, and a table for writing advocacy letters. Multiple organizations will be promoting volunteer opportunities as well. Exciting New Addition to Conferece! Dancers from Yahweh Ballet will performing excerpts from “The Life Ballet.” This is a incredibly moving musical about choice written and directed by Sandy Arena. The Life Ballet will be performed in it’s entirety on Saturday, April 30th at 4PM at the Auditorium Center Cathedral Hall. More conference updates coming soon. Texas Students for Life is proud to announce the annual Texas Students for Life Conference to be held at Texas A&M University on April 2, 2011. So fellow pro-life college students, save the date on your calenders and spread the word. The conference is to be a networking experience that will surely benefit your pro-life campus group.
