“I was on a college campus when I learned of the assassination of my dear friend, Charlie Kirk, and people mocked his death. I was shocked then, but it’s getting worse. We are not only seeing the violent rhetoric of the Left continue but are openly mocked and endure calls for the deaths of pro-life students and leaders like me. This support for violence is escalating,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “A culture that embraces the deaths of innocent preborn babies in the womb now includes support for the murders of the people who care about them. I hope this arrest sends a message that political violence must not be tolerated.”

OXFORD, OH (11-05-2026) – A student at the University of Miami in Ohio has been arrested and charged with a felony and several misdemeanors after allegedly commenting on YikYak that food dollars were available to anyone who might shoot at the Students for Life of America (SFLA) team members and students who were engaged in educational outreach display, “Meet Abortions’ Victims.”The student, Alexandra R. Patterson, 19, was arrested on November 2, 2026, after reportedly posting on the app: “How many dining dollars to kirk the anti-abortion table in Armstrong,” invoking the shooting assassination of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk, who was staunchly pro-life. Investigators are saying the social media post was an attempt to “intimidate or coerce a civilian population, namely students who express that viewpoint on campus.”

“The irony is not lost on me that the victims of abortion could have included Students for Life’s team and students,” said SFLA President Kristan Hawkins. “This proves why the pro-life movement must continue to fight the Culture of Death that abortion-on-demand has created.”

The post was made in YikYak’s “Miami Ohio” group, which is visible to the app’s users near the university.

“At the time of the post, four students were at an anti-abortion, information booth in Armstrong Student Center on campus, according to court documents,” reported the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Those students were part of Miami University’s SFLA chapter, tabling as part of SFLA’s “Meet Abortions’ Victims: Every Abortion Has a Human Cost” campus tour, highlighting the countless people harmed by abortion, from the preborn children killed in the abortion to human traffickers and abuse victims.

SFLA’s team at Miami University filed a police report about Patterson’s alleged YikYak post on October 28 after seeing the threat on social media. An SFLA team member reported feeling unsafe after seeing the post.

“Students should not be threatening other students online, even if it’s ‘anonymous,'” the SFLA team member who reported the incident stated. “When we work in a position where we’re openly discussing a hot-button issue and the biggest issue of our time on a college campus, I do not want our pro-life students to feel unsafe in any way, especially when they have freedom of speech.”

Patterson was arrested and charged with one felony of making a terroristic threat and multiple misdemeanors, including inducing panic, aggravated menacing, and telecommunications harassment. The charges could put her in prison for years.

Patterson is being held on a $170,000 bond at the Butler County Jail, and the incident was reported to the FBI. A magistrate’s order would require Patterson to wear an ankle monitor, as well as stay away from the students threatened and social media, should she post bail.

Miami University released a statement to the media saying that the university affords students “due process through their Code of Student Conduct.”

SFLA has spoken out against the violent suppression of free speech on university campuses. In an op-ed in the National Review, SFLA President Kristan Hawkins spoke out about the troubling state of student speech:

“Today, we need free speech and the courage to use it, especially on the issue of abortion — the human rights issue of our day, where the innocent die before getting to utter their first word. But I am concerned that this generation of students is considering self-censorship even as others embrace violence. Over 9 in 10 students said they self-censor on campus, while a third of students embrace violence as a way to confront a speaker they don’t agree with or want to hear.

“. . . Charlie Kirk went to college campuses because he believed, as I do, that we need to reach each generation with the truth about how to achieve hope and a future. The boldness of stepping on college campuses for an open debate changes minds.”

This fall, Hawkins has been traveling to college campuses as part of her “Feminists Lied: Prove Me Wrong” campus free-speech events with SFLA and TPUSA.
