Over the past couple of academic terms, Students for Life at Oregon State University had an active and impactful season. Through education, advocacy, service, and outreach, our members worked to promote awareness and support for life-affirming resources both on campus and in the broader community.

Throughout the fall term, Students for Life at OSU also spent time hosting Students for Life of America fall tour tabling on campus as part of our outreach and educational efforts. To deepen understanding of policy topics, we hosted an end-of-term educational meeting focused on pro-life public policy and advocacy. Around twelve students attended, with our Regional Coordinator leading the training and our students participating in thoughtful discussions about how legislation, culture, and service intersect with the broader pro-life movement.

One of our major areas of focus this year was legislative engagement. Our chapter supported the “Born Alive Protection Act” in partnership with Oregon Right to Life, and we worked to raise awareness about the bill and its purpose. Students also participated in a lobby day where members traveled to meet with legislators and deliver Students for Life Action’s legislative priorities directly to representatives. During this event, our group successfully distributed pro-life bills to supportive legislators, giving students firsthand experience with civic engagement and public policy.

Beyond legislative work, our chapter also highlighted the importance of industry and community impact through hosting the mobile clinic for our local Pregnancy Center on campus, right outside of our Memorial Union Building in the middle of campus! This clinic initiative was a great success: More than a dozen students engaged with us directly, including one who was interested in the free ultrasound services provided by the center, and hundreds more students walked by and saw the clinic. This event truly demonstrated how medical services can be brought directly to communities in need, expanding access to care and resources.

Supportive services were another key focus this year. Our chapter organized a diaper drive to collect essential supplies for families who may be facing financial challenges. We gathered $100 in cash donations and several thousand dollars in diapers, wipes, and baby formula. This effort allowed our club to contribute tangibly to support life at OSU by helping student parents. We were able to partner with the Family Resource Center on campus to distribute these resources directly to the childcare center, where students could pick them up conveniently. Additionally, I partnered in my position with student government to allocate $690,000 for repairs and improvements to the Family Resource Center for parent support and childcare.

Overall, this year has been filled with opportunities for students to grow as advocates, volunteers, and leaders. We are grateful for everyone who participated, supported our initiatives, and helped make this a meaningful year for Students for Life at OSU. As we look ahead, we are excited to continue building a campus culture that values education, service, and thoughtful engagement.
