Yes, you read the headline right.

State University of New York Purchase is under fire for using taxpayer dollars to build a “Reproductive Justice Garden” cultivated to grow plants that induce abortions.

The public university showed off its garden on Instagram, picturing various poisonous plants, such as cohosh and wormwood — all plants that kill preborn children in the womb.

This grotesque display is hosted by a “collaborative, research-focused art project” called how to perform an abortion, which aims to ” create installations, gardens, information graphics and workshops intended to activate a shift in culture and law in favor of reproductive self-determination,” according to their website

Dating back to 2017, how to perform an abortion has also provided workshops and kits filled with pro-abortion propaganda under the guise of “reproductive autonomy,” as their website puts it. Their past projects range from exploring podcasts on “race and reproductive self determination” to kits full of books and other materials.

The project was created by Maureen Conner, a feminist media artist, and Eugenia Manwelyan, a New York-based educator and artist.

New York state is known for its abortion radicalism on campus. Each of the state’s 90 public universities offers chemical abortion pills either on-campus or through a streamlined referral process, as required by state law since 2023.

Additionally, private schools in the state like New York University has bragged about their student insurance plans covering 100% of abortion costs. Columbia University took it a step further, making their full-time Health and Related Services Fee cover abortions and related appointments for students without billing students’ insurance at all.

The Empire State does not stop its death culture radicalism with abortion on campuses. In February 2026, New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law legislation legalizing assisted suicide in the state. Even more horrifying, nothing in the bill’s language prevents pregnant mothers from getting assisted suicide, ending the lives of both them and their preborn child in one fell swoop.

In 2023, Gov. Hochul announced a plan to stockpile 150,000 doses of misoprostol, the second of two pills used in chemical abortions. This five-year supply was meant to make New York a “safe harbor for abortion,” according to her office’s news release. Additionally, the governor vowed to give up to $20 million to abortion vendors should mifepristone, the first pill used in chemical abortions, be successfully taken off the market.

Students for Life of America (SFLA) serves to take on abortion radicalism like this where it is pushed most: on college campuses. With over 1,700 groups across the nation, including over 80 groups in New York state, SFLA prepares students to challenge pro-abortion narratives at institutions built to do the opposite.
