Notre Dame de Namur University dropped from an “A” to an “F” after announcing former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as its commencement speaker.

The radical abortion supporter is a recipient of Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger Award for “outstanding contributions to the reproductive health and rights movement.”

A California “Catholic” university lost its “A” grade on Students for Life of America’s Christian Schools Report following the university’s decision to feature former Speaker Nancy Pelosi as its commencement speaker.

Pelosi, the former speaker in the House of Representatives, is an abortion activist so radical she received Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger Award for her “outstanding contributions to the reproductive health and rights movement.”

Her pro-abortion activism is so extreme that in 2022, she was even banned from receiving communion in her own archdiocese of San Francisco. Yet apparently, Notre Dame de Namur University, a self-proclaimed Catholic school in Belmont, California, saw no issue with not just platforming her but featuring her as the keynote speaker at this year’s commencement.

The Christian Schools Report, published annually by Students for Life’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement, grades Christian schools based on how well they live out their values when it comes to respect for Life.

Earlier this year, the original Notre Dame also had its score downgraded from a “B” to an “F” following its appointment of Susan Ostermann, a radical pro-abortion professor, as director of its Liu Institute for Asian Studies.

Now, Notre Dame de Namur joins Notre Dame and a litany of other Catholic schools that have received “F” grades, including:

  • Boston College
  • Loyola Marymount University
  • Sacred Heart University (CT)
  • Santa Clara University (CA)
  • Seattle University
  • St. Catherine University
  • University of Detroit Mercy
  • University of San Diego

It’s time for these schools to learn their lesson: One cannot claim the name of Christ while undermining the fundamental biblical principle of the sanctity of life.

Notre Dame de Namur’s decision to feature a speaker so pro-abortion she can’t even receive communion calls into question whether it truly adheres to the faith it proclaims. Either the school must immediately reverse course, or it must stop fraudulently labeling itself Catholic.
