Will DOGE Defund Planned Parenthood? Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk Tell Them to FUND THEMSELVES

Students for Life of America (SFLA) has long awaited the day when people elected to power would wield it to defund Planned Parenthood at a federal level. It may be closer than we thought, thanks to Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.

On the heels of President-elect Donald Trump picking nominees for his cabinet, he tapped billionaire Elon Musk and entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to run the Department of Government Efficiency, affectionately made into the acronym DOGE, and wrote a joint Wall Street Journal op-ed regarding their plans.

As volunteers, not paid government employees, they vow to cut costs and remove the unauthorized power of behind-the-scenes bureaucrats and politicians unelected by the people. They also want to stop government agencies from spending federal money without congressional approval. As they indicate, this would “liberate individuals and businesses from illicit regulations never passed by Congress and stimulate the U.S. economy.”

In the op-ed, Ramaswamy and Musk quickly referenced the fall of the Chevron doctrine, meaning that agencies don’t have unilateral power to make decisions and standards based on whatever they deem acceptable. Case and point: the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), an agency that has set safety standards that have specifically allowed Chemical Abortion Pills to rampage the nation, has mainly lived without outside accountability.

“In Loper Bright v. Raimondo (2024), the court overturned the Chevron doctrine and held that federal courts should no longer defer to federal agencies’ interpretations of the law or their own rulemaking authority,” wrote Ramaswamy and Musk. “Together, these cases suggest that a plethora of current federal regulations exceed the authority Congress has granted under the law.”

The fall of Chevron and the creation of DOGE will get Americans closer to cutting billions of dollars of unnecessary and, quite frankly, lethal spending.

In a recent X post, Musk pointed out “an estimated $247 billion in payment errors during the most recently completed fiscal year (FY 2022),” (emphasis added) according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), in what Musk calls the “tip of the iceberg.”

Indeed, it is. Additionally, ridiculous government spending racked up to $500 million on a National Health Institute (NIH) monkey island, $1.3 billion being made to deceased Americans, and part of $1.3 billion went to a Russian experiment of cats running on treadmills.

All of this is as ridiculous as it sounds. Still, as absurd as it is that our government gives $700 million federally to Planned Parenthood, it’s hardly laughable—innocent preborn lives slaughtered by federal dollars funded by nonconsenting taxpayers. In the op-ed, they made a surreal admission: the progressive, baby-killing organization that is Planned Parenthood doesn’t deserve taxpayers’ hard-earned money.

Ramaswamy and Musk explain, “DOGE will help end federal overspending by taking aim at the $500 billion plus in annual federal expenditures that are unauthorized by Congress or being used in ways that Congress never intended, from $535 million a year to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and $1.5 billion for grants to international organizations to nearly $300 million to progressive groups like Planned Parenthood.” (emphasis added)

The stars perfectly aligned with Musk and Ramaswamy, making this pro-life and pro-family dream a reality. As they note, “With a decisive electoral mandate and a 6-3 conservative majority on the Supreme Court, DOGE has a historic opportunity for structural reductions in the federal government. We are prepared for the onslaught from entrenched interests in Washington. We expect to prevail.”

SFLA hopes DOGE prevails and not only tells Planned Parenthood to “fund themselves” but forces them to.
