“This is a mistake by the Supreme Court with life-and-death implications, a tragedy for preborn babies and their mothers nationwide. Death-by-Mail – established during the Biden Administration – has continued unchecked by the Trump team to this point. The policy harms preborn babies and their mothers, as dangerous, unregulated pills go to abusers, in unmarked packages, leading to chaos in homes across America,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “Chemical Abortion Pills end preborn life and expose women to injury, infertility, and death; cause risks from abortion water pollution; and are shipped into pro-life states in violation of the law. The rule of law has to matter when it comes to illicit pill trafficking.”
MEDIA NOTE: Students for Life of America filed an amicus brief in the case, noting that the more than 50 tons of chemically tainted blood and placenta tissue, along with human remains, going into our waterways may have in impact on endangered species.

WASHINGTON D.C. (05-14-2026) – Following news that the Supreme Court rejected the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals halt on online distribution of Chemical Abortion Pills, Students for Life of America (SFLA) President Kristan Hawkins made the following statement:
“This is a mistake by the Supreme Court with life-and-death implications. Allowing this kind of pill pushing, in violation of states laws, is no different than ignoring trafficking fentanyl into states. Illegal drugs can’t be mailed just because a pill pusher wants an easy sale,” said Hawkins. “The Supreme Court should care about states’ rights and the rule of law. States have every right to demand that their laws be respected and their citizens and persons within their borders are protected.”

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals panel stated the obvious — allowing Chemical Abortion Pills to be illegally mailed into pro-life states has caused legal and physical harm.
“Every abortion facilitated by the FDA’s reckless actions cancels Louisiana’s ban on abortions and undermines its state policy that ‘every unborn child is human being from the moment of conception and is, therefore, a legal person,’” the appeals court wrote Friday.
SFLA’s leadership in this space includes legislation, litigation, federal agency outreach, and education.
