A Partisan Letter Out Today to the Environmental Protection Agency Asks to See Students for Life’s Communications & Tries to Undercut Concerns with Endocrine Disruptors in our Waterways

“It’s flattering, in a way, for legislators to confirm that Students for Life is having an impact on the conversation about abortion water pollution. Thanks for noticing,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “But we are challenging Democratic members to actually read our emails when they see them along with the the peer-reviewed study that is a fact check to their claims. The Democrats’ letter is categorically false. Peer-reviewed science shows mifepristone and mifepristone equivalents are in the water. Studies in other countries show the same. So, enjoy learning more about what Americans are exposed to because of the reckless policies forced forward by the Clinton, Obama, and Biden Administrations. We always welcome converts to our cause. But, you don’t have to be pro-life to want clean drinking water.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (10-15-2026) – Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins noted that the issue of abortion is alive and well in this election cycle as the entire Democrat Party’s U.S. Senate Caucus took time to complain to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) about the agency’s interest in simply learning more about abortion water pollution. Hawkins observed: “Logic alone would indicate that if you dump more than 50 tons of pathological medical waste into our drinking water every year for 20 years, problems could result. Hospitals and brick-and-mortar abortion vendors can’t do that, so why are we ignoring a potential environmental crisis with chemical abortion pills? Is it because Democrats have been more loyal to the abortion lobby than to their Green Agenda? Sad isn’t it that the Democrats don’t care about babies’ lives lost, or that chemical abortion pills expose women to injury, infertility, and death, as well as abusers who love the easy access to the deadly drugs. Now, we know they don’t care much about water safety either, if they are willing to oppose simple testing.”

In addition to advocacy at the EPA, Students for Life has been working on federal agency policy for the last few years and has led the pro-life movement’s effort to ask for a real review by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of chemical abortion pill policy, including environmental concerns. In fact, Students for Life of America (SFLA) recently filed a Notice of Intent to sue the FDA for the failure to comply with the “Endangered Species Act.”

SFLA Vice President of Media & Policy Kristi Hamrick has been a project lead at the EPA, twice testifying that water testing is vital to understand the scope of abortion water pollution, especially in light of the peer-reviewed water study submitted to the EPA during our advocacy on the “Safe Drinking Water Act.”

Hamrick noted, “It isn’t a secret that Students for Life believes that the risks of being microdosed by an endocrine blocker in our drinking water need to be studied. Mifepristone and mifepristone equivalents carry risks to human beings, aquatic, and animal life. The real issue is whether our federal government will continue to ignore the environmental impact of federal abortion policy. The law says you can’t do that, and for those trying to get and stay pregnant, the scope of abortion water pollution is important to know. But for the U.S. Senators who have suddenly showing an interest in the deadly impact of abortion policy, we pulled some reading for you here.”
