Students for Life of America (SFLA) President Kristan Hawkins, her four children, and a group of pro-life advocates were kicked out of an Idaho cafe because of their pro-life views.
Hawkins and a group of local residents from Teton Valley, Idaho met at Wydaho Roasters, a coffee shop in Driggs, Idaho, to launch a chapter of Students for Life’s Campaign for Abortion Free Cities and discuss pro-life strategy in the state, including bringing more resources for families in crisis in the Teton Valley area.
It didn’t last long before the owner came to them in a rage.

“The owner comes out and starts screaming at us that we are not welcome there, and then he compares pro-lifers to the KKK,” said Hawkins in an Instagram reel recounting the incident.
Wydaho is known for hosting a variety of events and figures, including a Queer Coffee Hour.
“[Wydaho] invites the community to work from its tables,” wrote Hawkins in her Instagram reel description. “We bought our drinks, pastries, and ice cream, and we sat quietly, the way anyone else there does.”
The group had already purchased food and drinks from the coffee shop when the owner began the outburst.
“This isn’t Boston. This is Idaho,” said Hawkins in the video. “This should never have been.”
Hawkins’ son, Bear Hawkins, was present for the incident.
“This used to be my favorite place to get coffee,” said Kristan Hawkins. “Literally, I used some of my points today to get coffee because I come here so much, and he kicked us out. So much for liberal tolerance.”
Despite the maltreatment, Hawkins pointed out the cafe’s history of philanthropic efforts, including sponsoring an event with the local animal shelter to get pets to new homes. That kindness, however, was not extended to the pro-life activists.
“They do good things for the community,” Hawkins continued. “They have a huge community board saying they’re for the whole community, and this is what happens.”
Since August 2022, Idaho has enforced its bold pro-life laws following the fall of Roe v. Wade. The Gem State does not allow abortion at any stage of pregnancy, except in cases of rape, incest, and the life of the mother, making it one of the most pro-life states in the nation.

While Hawkins pointed out the ridiculousness of attempts to make states like Idaho abandon preborn children, pro-abortion radicals like those at Wydaho Roasters show that there is nowhere those who push abortion will not go to end the lives of preborn children and target women.
This is why SFLA has worked for 20 years to push back against the influence of the abortion lobby. SFLA will persist in its mission to save the lives of preborn children — no matter how many pro-abortion extremists try to stop us.
