Texas Man’s Story Proves What We Already Knew: Chemical Abortion Is the Abuser’s Best Friend

John Rueben Gabriel Demeter repeatedly asked the mother of his child to get an abortion. Time and time again, she said no.

Demeter offered to pay for her to travel to a different state to get an abortion. She still said no, insisting she wanted to carry her child to term.

What happened next?

According to Texas authorities, Demeter refused to take “no” for an answer. Instead, he obtained Chemical Abortion Pills — almost completely illegal in Texas — and secretly administered them to the mother with the intent of killing their baby.

Despite the mother’s best attempts to save her child, the baby, named Presley Mae, was stillborn at the hospital. Demeter was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated assault.

This tragedy is the latest instance of what has become a far-too-common occurrence: abusers coercing women into abortions against their will, brutally taking the lives of the preborn babies growing inside them.

Studies show 24% of abortions are unwanted or coerced. That’s nearly one in four.

In 2025, another Texas man allegedly laced his girlfriend’s hot chocolate with chemical abortion pills, causing her to lose her child. An Illinois man allegedly secretly put chemical abortion pills into his girlfriend’s vagina without her knowledge, again causing her to lose her child. The list could go on — and that’s just for 2025.

Drugging women to kill their babies doesn’t just hurt babies. It inflicts serious, sometimes even deadly harm on the women themselves.

Chemical abortion has a complication rate four times that of surgical abortion, with as many as 1 in 5 women suffering complications. As many as 15% of women experience hemorrhaging, and 2% suffer from infection. And studies have linked chemical abortion to a 500% increase in abortion-related ER visits.

The abortion industry tells women that abortion is liberating, that chemical abortion pills allow them to participate in society on equal terms with men. The reality? Chemical abortion doesn’t liberate women — it renders them vulnerable to predatory men, empowering those men to take what they want without consequences or even evidence attesting to their wrongdoing.

Chemical abortion is the abuser’s best friend. It doesn’t help babies, and it certainly doesn’t help women.
