This school year, Big Valley Christian Students for Life is building more than just momentum—they’re building a legacy. With a strong leadership team, intentional onboarding, and a clear vision for the future, this group is laying the groundwork for pro‑life activism that will continue well beyond graduation.
This year, the group kicked off with a welcome info session in Fall 2025, inviting new students to learn about the pro‑life movement and how they could get involved on campus. That foundation has already carried into the spring semester, with an eventful lobby day and additional club meetings planned to deepen members’ commitment and keep students engaged throughout the year.

Two seniors, Sarah Yates and Alise Roest, currently serve as onboarding leaders for the group, helping cultivate new members and prepare the next generation of student leaders. Their goal is simple but powerful: to instill a passion for the pro‑life movement in their peers so the group continues to thrive even after they graduate.
That commitment to leadership and formation was on full display when members of the group joined other student leaders from across the state for California Pro‑Life Lobby Day at the state capitol. Drawing on skills from their government classes, students presented Students for Life Action model legislation, including the Ending Chemical Abortion Act, the Clean Water for All Life Act, and the Safe Haven Security & Adoption Act.
Sarah and Alise confidently articulated why these bills matter, impressing even seasoned staffers such as Katja Townsend, Capitol Director for Assemblyman James Gallagher. California representatives took particular interest in the Ending Chemical Abortion Act and the Clean Water for All Life Act, responding to the students’ clarity, preparation, and passion. Their poise showed exactly what can happen when civic education moves out of the classroom and into the halls where laws are shaped.
By pairing consistent on‑campus engagement with real‑world advocacy opportunities, Big Valley Christian Students for Life is modeling what a healthy, sustainable student group looks like. They aren’t just hosting events—they’re forming leaders who are prepared to carry the fight for life wherever they go next.
