NO MORE: Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama AGs Take Shield Law States to SUPREME COURT for Trafficking Chemical Abortion Pills into Pro-Life States, Breaking Laws

Play with fire, and you’ll get burned.

The attorneys general (AGs) from Louisiana, Alabama, and Arkansas are suing pro-abortion states California, Massachusetts, and New York for protecting criminal doctors who are sending illegal chemical abortion pills into their states with so-called “shield laws” — and they’re taking the lawbreakers straight to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Students for Life has brought national attention to the issue of shield laws and chemical abortion pill trafficking. Earlier this year, Students for Life of America (SFLA) delivered nearly 13,000 petitions from concerned citizens to the Department of Justice, detailing the distress Americans feel about chemical abortion pills being trafficked into their state and calling for enforcement of the Comstock Act, an active law that prevents the mailing of abortion-related materials, including chemical abortion pills.

Led by Louisiana AG Liz Murrill, the states are suing the pro-abortion states over their use of “shield laws,” or laws that protect abortion vendors from being extradited to other states for prosecution and/or from facing prosecution within their states for trafficking chemical abortion pills into states against those states’ pro-life laws.

The complaint specifically accuses California, Massachusetts, and New York of violating the U.S. Constitution “by circumventing its Full Faith and Credit Clause, which generally requires states to respect the laws and judicial proceedings of other states,” as the Louisiana Illuminator reported.

Pro-abortion states have been open about their desire to circumvent the sovereignty of pro-life states. As AG Murrill recounted in a news release on the lawsuit, “And they didn’t even try to hide their motives. New York Governor Kathy Hochul proudly proclaimed, ‘They can’t stop us—they can’t stop our providers, they can’t stop New York, and that’s how we’re fighting back.’”

California Governor Gavin Newsom also gained national attention earlier this year for telling AG Murrill “Go f— yourself” when she sought to hold doctors from California and New York accountable for sending chemical abortion pills into Louisiana, where the pills are a controlled substance. Newsom is thought to be a top contender for the Democrat presidential nomination in 2028. He signed California’s abortionist protections into law in September 2025.

The AGs are not letting hostility from the governors stop them from seeking justice. In addition to lawsuits against the three states, they filed a separate lawsuit in the Western District of Louisiana against “30 individuals and organizations who, through a sweeping, coordinated scheme, have flooded illegal abortion pills into pro-life states by advertising, prescribing, dispensing, and shipping abortion drugs directly into Louisiana and other states,” says the news release.

“Louisiana has made its position on abortion clear through the bipartisan will of the people’s representatives in its Legislature,” said AG Murrill in the news release. “Louisiana chooses life. We will not allow activist states, activist providers, or distributors profiting from killing babies to threaten Louisiana’s sovereignty, violate Louisiana law, or endanger Louisiana women and babies.”

Easy-access death-by-mail chemical abortion pills have been used by abusers to poison women and abort their children against their will, with one recent case being in Louisiana.

SFLA proved how easy it is for anyone regardless of their age, sex, criminal history, pregnancy status, or stage of pregnancy to order chemical abortion pills online from unregulated, often foreign retailers, and have them shipped into pro-life states in an undercover video.

Shield laws create a constitutional crisis by preventing states from governing themselves, handing ultimate power over life and law to pro-abortion states with the intent to end the lives of as many children as possible across the country.

Students for Life will not stop fighting for life until abortionists are held accountable for their misinformation and often illegal practices.
