A student at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) assaulted a Students for Life of America (SFLA) team member during an activism event at the institution as part of SFLA’s “Abortion Victims: Every Abortion Has a Human Cost” campus tour. 

SFLA Appalachian Regional Coordinator Rebekah Keith was speaking to students at MTSU when an angry student threw a cup at Keith. The assault was caught on video, and Keith praised the police response.

“The police found her immediately and acted swiftly,” said Keith.

The student, who is a woman identifying as a male, made it known that she was taking testosterone and had an IUD. This comes not long after the Department of Health and Human Services released a study that found people that support radical gender ideology often hold left-wing authoritarian values and are more likely to support political violence. 

“Laws are in place to protect speech,” said Keith, “and her violence must be punished appropriately so that free speech can stay free.”

Keith encouraged people to pray for the student who was arrested. 

Earlier in the week, SFLA team members were mobbed and threatened in Denver while advocating for life with University of Colorado Denver students as part of the same campus tour.

The “Abortion Victims: Every Abortion Has a Human Cost” campus tour is SFLA’s effort to bring awareness to all of the victims of abortion, the most of those being millions of preborn children who lose their lives through horrific chemical and surgical abortion. Not only that, but it tells the often unspoken realities of how abortion is used by abusers and sex traffickers against the women they target, as well as how preborn children with disabilities are aborted because of their conditions. 

This is part of SFLA’s wider efforts to honor the free-speech legacy of Charlie Kirk. Launching in time for the one-year anniversary, SFLA is sending a message that we will not stop defending life in the face of threats, intimidation, and violence — just as Charlie did.
