Cancel Culture constitutes a sad part of life at this moment in history, affecting everything from comedy and podcasting to music and even “power suit” careers. Public figures of all types can hardly breathe a word in opposition to the dominant (or rather, the more dominantly aggressive) ideology of the day without risking career turmoil. The latest victim of such a martyrdom is the blind, Swiss-Croatian singer Bernarda Brunovic.

Brunovic happens to oppose killing preborn babies via abortion, and because of that, she was invited two years ago to perform at the National Pro-Life March in Zurich, Switzerland. Fast-forward to last month, and the talented singer was set to perform at the M4Music festival in Zurich. Tragically, that’s when the trolls descended.

Abortion zealots threatened and railed against the M4Music organizers, who promptly cut Brunovic from the roster, citing the ever-pathetic mantra of progressive censorship: ‘[for the] safety of the audience and all participants.’

Given that the internet’s abortion thugs allegedly warned the event organizers that they would ‘disrupt’ the festival in some way if Brunovic was allowed to perform, it would seem the cancellation may have been for the safety of the organizers themselves who feared the bullies.

That is, after all, how abortion supporters often choose to get their way. Promoting violence in the womb tends to spill out into advocacy for violence in general.

Hopefully, the vendetta against Brunovic is simply a brief fad and she can soon get back to sharing both her talent and her powerful witness against ableism, as a blind artist. Though she may not be quite out of the woods yet, as another event the week after M4Music also pulled the plug on her performance at the last minute.

In the typical manner of a pro-life advocate, Brunovic responded with grace and love despite the vitriol hurled her way. She posted on Instagram:

“[…] I’m an artist, a musician who loves life. And I love and respect all people, regardless of their creed, nationality, ethnicity, race, sexual or political orientation, anything. Everybody’s got their right to their opinion or beliefs, and I’ve also got the right to mine.”

As fellow and frequent victims of Cancel Culture, the Pro-Life Generation stands with Bernarda! As passionately as we fight for protection for preborn babies, we will continue to fight for the free speech rights (dare we say, even the ‘right to not be intimidated?’) for all.
