In a bizarre interpretation of scripture, Whoopi Goldberg doesn’t think abortion is included in the 10 commandments, even though “Thou Shalt Not Kill” is clearly outlined.
“It’s you, your doctor, and God. That’s who you have to be conversational to, and it’s not mentioned in the big 10, I’m just going to say,” said Goldberg on The View when discussing Donald Trump’s abortion statement. “I think ‘thou shall not kill’ cannot be used as the block because we allow wars all the time.”
Since Goldberg may be unaware, along with many other Americans who watch The View, Students for Life of America (SFLA) will say this on repeat: the rise of Chemical Abortion Pills removes the doctor and any medical professional from the room. It is not contraception. It’s main and only purpose is to end pregnancy. More than 50% of all abortions in the United States happen when a woman is alone in her bathroom, flushing her baby down the toilet. This number will only increase as more safeguards are removed through sketchy online Chemical Abortion Pill sales.

Putting that aside, we approach the subject of misconstruing Biblical scriptures. Goldberg should’ve consulted the entire Bible before cherry-picking Bible verses.
The verse Goldberg refers to is Exodus 20:13, and it’s not referring to death in war, but the intentional killing with premeditation. James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being.” The Bible is consistent about looking after the most vulnerable, which includes orphans, widows, and the most defenseless, preborn babies.
While there’s plenty of theological debate around whether war constitutes killing mentioned in Exodus, there’s no room for interpretation regarding the Bible’s stance on defending the most vulnerable, as well as warning of societies that accept child sacrifice.
Leviticus 18:21 reads, “You shall not give any of your children to offer them to Molech, and so profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.”
For the Biblically unaware, Molech was a Canaanite deity associated with child sacrifice. While we may not sacrifice our children on a physical altar, children often are sacrificed at the altar of success, fear, or difficult circumstances.
We’re crystal clear at Students for Life of America: No one should ever unjustly kill preborn or born children for any reason or circumstance.
“Normally after the nine month, the baby is born.” said Goldberg during The View. She didn’t say, “the fetus or tissues are born.” She said baby. Her slip of the tongue but proves the pro-life movement’s point, as well as the Bible’s principle.
Whoopi Goldberg says plenty of absurd things, often mocked in conservative, Christian, and pro-life spaces, but her statements do matter and affect the culture around us.
As previously mentioned, Molech was a Canaanite god who required unspeakable ways to sacrifice children. The Biblical text shows how even the most righteous figures in the Bible fell prey to embracing or allowing these gods in their households.
1 Kings 11:7 states, “Then did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.” History repeats itself.
Not correcting the deviant behaviors of his foreign wives allowed Solomon, the wisest man on earth, to accept immoral practices. Within a year of Solomon’s death, Israel divided into two kingdoms, permanently altering its history.
Ignoring the public’s twisting of the Scriptures and moral principles leads to more immorality. Even for the non-religious, twisting the simple moral principle of not killing innocent preborn lives is ultimately detrimental to society. Wisdom dictates public figures like Whoopi Goldberg should be called out when they bend moral principles upside down.
If we don’t uphold the sanctity of life as promised in the 14th amendment, which is based on Judeo-Christian values, society will fracture and decline. And the most tragic consequence of all: more babies will die.
