“We are urging legislators to be uncompromising in their defense of life,” said Dustin Curtis, SFLAction Executive Director. “Passing a clean ‘Life at Conception Act’ protects both women and the preborn from the predatory abortion industry. We look forward to the chamber advancing this bill in the upcoming session with NO amendments that attempt to water down the legislation designed to welcome all children.”

COLUMBIA, SC and WASHINGTON, D.C. (8-15-2022) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) is pleased to see the bipartisan Special Committee in South Carolina’s State House unveil strong legislation on the Life at Conception Act. We now call on the Judiciary Committee to advance the legislation without amendment.

State Representative John McCravy led efforts to introduce strong, pro-life legislation that protects life at conception, without exceptions for how children are convinced. Notably, protections for women whose lives are at risk are included and supported.

“We are urging legislators to be uncompromising as they protect our most vulnerable by passing a Life at Conception Act that protects both women and the preborn from the predatory abortion industry,” said Dustin Curtis, SFLAction Executive Director. “We look forward to the chamber advancing this bill in the upcoming session and will educate and mobilize pro-life constituents to oppose any efforts that water down the legislation.”

We are ensuring that South Carolinians get their voices heard by their Representatives who have an opportunity to be a leader in our nation, ensuring all babies are equally valued. Through our mobilization, students and pro-life activists will lobby at the capitol to encourage legislators to block any efforts to amend this bill August 16-17, 2022, with a rally taking place on Wednesday morning.

This session, SFLAction targeted 20 South Carolina State Senate districts, contacting more than 100,000 conservative voters through phone programming and personal text messaging, as the session kicked off, and ran statewide digital advertising. Now that the bill is before the Judiciary Committee, SFLAction will target an additional 10 House districts, contacting another 40,000 conservative voters.

The preborn are worthy of protection regardless of the circumstance surrounding their conception, and legislators need to fight against the abortion lobby who will try to insert loopholes that perpetuate the violence of abortion. SFLAction will stand in support of the Life at Conception Act in the Palmetto State.
