“This is the worst political opportunism I’ve ever seen,” said Students for Life of America’s Kristan Hawkins. “Delaying relief for those who might die or be financially harmed by Covid-19 so that taxpayers can be required to pay to end lives in abortion shows the rabid support for abortion among activists.”
WASHINGTON D.C. (03-13-2020) – “For House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the abortion allies in Congress to use a Covid-19 aid package for potential abortion funding represents the most extreme act of abortion support seen in decades,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins. According to multiple media reports, the House Covid-19 aid package included healthcare dollars without Hyde Amendment protections, which restricts taxpayer funding of abortion.
Hawkins continued: “Slipping funds for abortion into a relief package for those hurt by the Covid-19 crisis show just how committed the abortion lobby and their friends in government are to taxpayer funded abortions. Delaying relief for those who might die or be financially harmed by Covid-19 so that taxpayer can be required to pay to end lives in abortion shows the rabid support for abortion among activists.”
On Twitter, Planned Parenthood tried to imply that those opposing the funds without taxpayer protections against abortion funding were the problem, to which Hawkins replied: “The fact that Planned Parenthood believes emergency #CoronavirusPandemic funding should be used for taxpayer funded abortion tells you all you need to know about the Abortion Goliath.”
With more than $600 million in taxpayer funds in their pocket last year, Planned Parenthood’s appetite for the money of hard-working Americans is legendary. Yet, pregnancy is not a disease cured by abortion, despite Planned Parenthood’s political prowess in getting into healthcare funds.
