Do you sport pro-life bumper stickers on your car?
Do you wear pro-life T-shirts, perhaps from Students for Life of America (SFLA)?
Have you made a Facebook post praising life-affirming ideas or sharing a pro-life article?
Well, you, pro-life friend, are seen as a “terrorist.”
No, this article isn’t just a fantastical and nonsensical claim to match a hyperbolic headline, nor is it the punchline of a terrible joke. This is a real and recent threat against peaceful American pro-lifers from our government.
Apparently, the public wasn’t supposed to know this before the revelation was initially leaked. The Washington Examiner reported the following:
“U.S. Army personnel at Fort Liberty in North Carolina were given a training seminar in which certain prominent anti-abortion groups were labeled as ‘terrorist groups,’ according to information leaked from within the base.
The presentation slide, photographed by an anonymous person in the briefing room on Wednesday and published on social media by a pseudonymous account, highlights common tactics used by anti-abortion activists as possibly dangerous, including ‘demonstrations and protest,’ ‘truth display,’ ‘picketing,’ and sidewalk counseling.” (emphasis added)
It’s bad enough that pro-lifers’ personal property gets vandalized by violent abortion supporters. Still, now personal property and peaceful messaging are being labeled as “terroristic” in a supposedly free country.
Still, one can take solace in the fact that whoever wrote this presentation isn’t terribly bright; they spelled “”Roe v. Wade” as “Row v. Wade.”
Their laughable incompetence aside, peaceful pro-lifers need to know the government is on their side when faced with physical violence. SFLA Spokesperson Lydia Taylor passionately advocates for the pre-born. She also has her car decked out in pro-life bumper stickers to follow suit, and it’s been vandalized multiple times. Or when SFLA Pacific Southwest Regional Coordinator Jordan Brittain’s car window was smashed at the San Francisco Walk for Life…twice.
Are “vandalizers,” regardless of political or moral beliefs, on that terrorist list, or just peaceful pro-lifers who dare outwardly express their views or, God forbid, counsel a pregnant woman on the street? Where is “Jane’s Revenge” in this slideshow presentation, an organization that outwardly and rather fearlessly threatens crisis pregnancy centers, along with SFLA?

They’re nowhere to be seen. Of course, since this leak, they promised those messages would be deleted if we take their very suspect word for it.
The soft tyranny that disincentivizes and intimidates those with solid morals, such as standing for the preborn, with vandalism, public mockery, and financial loss, is slowly mixing with hard tyranny at a rapid rate. As French political philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville described it:
“After having thus taken each individual one by one into its powerful hands, and having molded him as it pleases, the sovereign power extends its arms over the entire society; it covers the surface of society with a network of small, complicated, minute, and uniform rules, which the most original minds and the most vigorous souls cannot break through to go beyond the crowd; it does not break wills, but it softens them, bends them and directs them; it rarely forces action, but it constantly opposes your acting; it does not destroy, it prevents birth; it does not tyrannize, it hinders, it represses, it enervates, it extinguishes, it stupifies, and finally it reduces each nation to being nothing more than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.”
The Pro-Life Generation is no timid flock but instead a strong, unified voice for the preborn and offended by the label “terrorist.” We won’t tolerate it, and in fact, we never have. Earlier this year, we were labeled a terrorist organization by the University of Maryland. In the “Profiles of Individual Radicalization in the United States,” SFLA found our name buried on a non-alphabetized list of alleged suspects under “group or movement affiliation.”
Due to our unwavering stand and action against such a claim, we were removed from this list. It is a victory among many moral fights, but far from over, as seen by this recent leak.
This isn’t a small group of soldiers being indoctrinated with this “anti-abortion terrorist” slideshow. The Washington Examiner also reported, “Fort Liberty is one of the largest military installations in the world, with approximately 53,700 troops and 14,000 civilians working on the post.”
SFLA and other pro-life allies will continue to fight back against these misleading and dangerous labels. We’ll keep peacefully advocating, having conversations, and continuing the “terroristic” (all sarcasm intended) work of donating diapers, baby formula, and whatever else is needed to vulnerable mothers and children and crisis pregnancy centers.
