The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) is outraged that its fans know what a woman is.
Ever since Indiana Fever player Sophie Cunningham told ESPN that she thinks men shouldn’t be allowed to play in women’s sports, fans have been showing their support for the player online and in person.
Students for Life of America (SFLA) has proudly supported the biological reality through the chaos of radical gender ideology. Earlier this year, students from across the country participated in our first “Wear the Truth Week” event, sporting shirts that proclaim a timeless truth: “HUMAN AT CONCEPTION, SEX IS BINARY & UNCHANGEABLE.”
This is a fact the WNBA doesn’t want to acknowledge, however.
When Kasey Thomason and her 17-year-old daughter Annie attended a Fever game against the Atlanta Dream wearing shirts from swimming superstar Riley Gaines’ XX-XY Athletics brand, they were forced to choose: cover up or get out.
The New York Post reported on the incident, where the mother-daughter duo was targeted by security for their “offensive” shirts:
“We were made to cover up our XX-XY shirts at this game,” the mom said outside the arena after the game to a fellow WNBA fan. “They gave us t-shirts during overtime and told us we had to leave or cover our shirts up. This just happened.”
. . .
The mother and daughter claimed a fan who was put on the jumbotron wearing a “Protect Trans Rights” shirt told security about the duo because the fan was forced to zip up her jacket over the shirt . . .
The two said they paid $1,000 each for their tickets and came to the game in support of Sophie Cunningham and women within women’s sports.
The WNBA and the Atlanta Dream released statements on the incident, voicing their disapproval over how the situation was handled:
“The WNBA is aware of interactions at (Sunday) night’s game in Atlanta in which fans were asked by league security to cover their shirts,” said the WNBA in a statement. “This should not have happened.”
“The Atlanta Dream believes in creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. Unfortunately, at last night’s game, WNBA security took actions that fell short of that standard,” the Dream said in a statement. “At no point was Dream personnel involved in the decisions made by WNBA security.”
SFLA is continuing the fight to defend women and girls in sports and beyond with another round of “Wear the Truth Week.” From Monday, September 14 to Friday, September 18, pro-life activists across the country can wear our FREE SHIRT to stand up for biological truth.
Get your FREE Wear the Truth Week T-shirt and additional resources when you SIGN UP before Friday, September 4 at 5 PM ET.
