Celebrity culture has always pushed abortion despite the trends of violence it encourages and ignores as preborn babies and women suffer. Now, they are seeing the consequences of their actions within their own community.
Singer David Anthony Burke, who goes by the stage name D4vd, has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexually abusing and later killing and dismembering a teenage girl whom he allegedly forced to get an abortion.
Photographs and text messages from the trial showed the horrific abuse Burke is accused of subjecting Celeste Rivas Hernandez to when she was only 11 years old, according to court records obtained by the Los Angeles Times. He was 16 at the time they met in January 2022.
Not only does that make the crime an allegation of statutory zrape, according to WomensLaw.org, notes “if an adult has ‘consensual sex’ with a person under the age of 12, that might be rape in the first degree,” which carry more severe penalties.”
Text messages reveal they feared Hernandez was pregnant after Burke repeatedly sexually abused the girl. She later found out she was pregnant before Burke forced her to get an abortion in January 2024. Hernandez was 13 years old. Burke was 18.
“wen u gonna get it done,” Burke texted Hernandez about getting an abortion.
“two days,” she responded.
In August 2024, Hernandez texted Burke about her excruciating regret over the abortion.
“I care about u i killed my kid [for] you,” the 13-year-old texted Burke. “i don’t like talking about it cause it gets [me really] upset but id do anything to have it back.”
Hernandez later said that she “took an innocent life of a literal baby.”
Prosecutors believe Burke stabbed Hernandez to death in his Hollywood home after she threatened to reveal to the public the abuse. Detectives found blood stains consistent with Hernandez’s DNA in Burke’s garage.
The state further alleges Burke dismembered her body with a chainsaw and cut off two of her fingers, one of which had “David” tattooed on them. Burke similarly had “Celeste” tattooed on one of his fingers.
“[F]rom November 2023 to March 2025 . . . There were nearly 50 photographs that depicted either Hernandez naked or the pair engaged in sex acts . . . Burke’s cellphone lock screen was a picture of the pair, topless, locked in an embrace,” reports the Los Angeles Times.
Hernandez was reported missing before her body was found on September 8, 2025. Burke was on tour for his debut album, morbidly titled “Romantic Homicide.” Despite the disturbing evidence of the abuse, Burke, now 21, denies any wrongdoing.
The horrific details of this trial have rightfully taken center stage in California, where abortion is legal up to “viability” with exceptions for the life and health of the mother.
Abortion is not a way for women to be “empowered” or take control of their bodies and future. All abortion does is signal to men that women and girls are objects to be used for sexual pleasure, and it enables them to end the lives of both their own preborn child and harm women to avoid personal responsibility — whether the women consent to it or not.
