“Not only did I and Students for Life team members meet with EPA officials about the issues with more than 50 tons of chemically tainted blood and placenta tissue, along with human remains, going into our water ways, but multiple letters from Members of Congress have said the same thing — that the EPA needs to learn more about what’s in our water,” said Students for Life’s Kristan Hawkins. “The Sergeant Schultz approach will not work with us. Ignorance of the issue is not an excuse.”
READ HAWKINS ON X: “Wow, the White House keeps stepping into on Chemical Abortion … Either folks are lying or there is a massive pro-abortion sabotage happening at the staff level.”
WASHINGTON D.C. (05-14-2026) – Following a ludicrous exchange between Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin and U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Students for Life of America/Students for Life Action (SFLA/SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins went on X to note that the “ridiculous claim that the issue of abortion water pollution was unknown to Administrator Zeldin doesn’t pass the straight face test as I was in the room with his staff as we discussed it and know about the many people who also raised the issued – including members and former members of Congress, his own friends.”
“The White House has a disaster on their hands as either the deep state is running their agencies or a Star Chamber of pro-abortion zealots actually runs Trump’s agency team. Or maybe Lee Zeldin isn’t the right man for the job at EPA, if he truly has neglected his job and ‘not had a conversation with anyone at the agency as far as abortions in water.’ Saying, ‘I don’t even know what you’re talking about.’ That’s only possible if he has completely ignored the science of eight FDA citizen petitions, along with official comments and letters to his agency from many who are known to him. Being bad at your job isn’t an excuse,” noted Hawkins.
She continued: “After all, his team wants to say that pharmaceuticals in the water ARE a problem, but not endocrine disrupting abortion drugs? Tons of microplastics pollute, but tons of chemically tainted blood and placenta tissue are fine to drink? At a time in which so many are struggling with infertility, it’s the responsibility of the federal government to determine whether Chemical Abortion water pollution – which is NOT from contraception or a tragic miscarriage – is widespread. Three Democratic Party Presidents created the issue, and if Lee Zeldin doesn’t want to deal with it, then step aside. I just got off the phone with the new acting head of the FDA, and it was a good call in which they pledged more transparency in addressing mifepristone, and we want the same at the EPA. But President Trump, we are calling on you to fight for crystal clear drinking water.”
Currently, SFLA is engaged in the “Safe Drinking Water Act” reconsideration of “contaminants of concern” list comment period, an effort prompted by EPA conversations.

“Zeldin is usually known for his courage in standing up in questioning,” said Hawkins. “Perhaps this list of letters to his agency can refresh the talkers in house.”

SFLA has collected thousands of comments from the public now sent to the EPA demanding the EPA take action on dangerous Chemical Abortion Pill pollution in our water to protect our fertility and the lives of preborn children and their mothers.
