New Student-Organized Billboard Exposes Planned Parenthood’s True Priority; No More Misconceptions on the ‘Healthcare’ They Provide

As a high school senior and a fellow with Students for Life of America over the past year, I’ve begun to notice a lack of knowledge about Planned Parenthood in my community. In conversations, abortion supporters described the “many” other services Planned Parenthood offers besides abortion, while Pro-Lifers questioned the same thanks to Planned Parenthood’s deceptive commercials.

To bridge this gap, my group and I decided to expose Planned Parenthood publicly through a billboard reminding passersby that Planned Parenthood’s #1 priority is abortion.

After asking around for billboard company recommendations, I contacted a billboard company and started preparing for the display.  To have our billboard up for 12 weeks on a digital board we needed $1,200, which we raised through our partnership with the pro-life band Red Law.

Originally, we were told that our pro-life message wouldn’t be a problem, with the company telling us, “Generally speaking, Pro-Life messaging is typically not an issue unless it gets too graphic.” But just a week out from the display – after we had already paid – the billboard company demanded we make adjustments to the board’s wording, even though we didn’t have any graphic language or pictures. They also objected to our  link, PlannedParenthoodTruth.org, since it accused Planned Parenthood of abuse coverups, organ harvesting, and more. Even after I offered our sources for the accusations, the company still asked for softer language and a new link.

My group, our donor, and I didn’t want our message softened, so we made the decision to find a new company to work with. By God’s grace, one of our group’s members saw a billboard company advertisement while driving on a highly used road in our community. We reached out to the new company and sent our design for approval.  The company had no issues with our message, so we officially switched companies and, thanks to Red Law, raised another $500 to pay for our billboard to be up for three months!

Now, our billboard educates the community on Planned Parenthood’s objective via the message, “Planned Parenthood kills one baby every 80 seconds.”

That’s a message that everyone needs to hear – and my group and I won’t stop until they do.
