During a ceremony at the National Leaders Collective (NLC) Kickoff Weekend on Sunday, June 30th, Students for Life of America (SFLA) announced its 2024 – 2025 Group of the Year award winners — and we’re so excited to publicly share the exciting news! Read below to find out which of the group nominees were chosen as “best” in their individual categories.

New Group of the Year Winner: Newman Central Catholic High School LIFE Club

The Newman Central Catholic High School LIFE Club was established in 2024 and already has nearly 50 active members. They hit the ground running!

Over the school year, the Newman Central LIFE Club leaders successfully recruited more than 25% of their student population to join their group by hosting classroom trainings, tabling on various pro-life topics, and attending both local and national pro-life marches. Despite being a brand-new pro-life group on campus, Newman Central Catholic played a significant role in advocating to Defund Planned Parenthood this spring. The group called the offices of the budget and finance committee members to encourage them to cut taxpayer funding for the abortion industry. They even organized eight Defund Planned Parenthood Life Chains across the state.

Newton Classical ConversationsStudents for Life was established in 2023and has over 15 active members. Newton Classical ConversationsStudents for Life raised over $4,000 for two of their local Pregnancy Help Centers (PHCs) through Dance for Life, bake sales, and Walks for Life! This group delivered petitions to the North Carolina State Capitol in support of the Life at Conception Bill and the Clean Water Act. They lobbied to have the bills introduced during the current legislative session. Thanks to their efforts, the Life at Conception Bill was introduced in this session. College Group of the Year Winner: Indiana University Students for Life

This esteemed college group, which has been in existence since 2013, was a force to be reckoned with. Students for Life at Indiana University launched their own Campaign for Abortion Free Cities in Bloomington to promote awareness of life-affirming resources and have already reached over 500 doors with pregnancy resources!

The group also traveled to Wayne, Michigan, to inform voters that a pro-life champion was on the ballot in the 2024 Fall election. Along with other volunteers and SFLA team members, the group knocked on 3,727 doors, encouraged countless individuals to vote for Life, and helped to elect the representative.

Standing With You Group of the Year Winner: Notre Dame Right to Life

Notre Dame Right to Life was established in 1972 and has over 900 active members. This makes them the largest non-academic student organization at the University of Notre Dame and the largest university pro-life group in the country.

Notre Dame Right to Life has partnered with Be Not Afraid to support the University’s Family Resource Center (FRC), the hub for pregnant and parenting students on campus. This includes advertising center events, keeping their diaper and wipes supply stocked, and supporting pregnant and parenting students who visit the Family Resource Center through baby showers, peer-to-peer support, material assistance, and abundant love and prayers from the Notre Dame Right to Life community.

They also hosted their annual Let Them Live Fundraiser for a mother who recently chose Life for her baby girl. By selling cotton candy on Notre Dame football game days, creating and selling custom Notre Dame Right to Life merchandise, and reaching out to over 1,000 alumni and friends, the group raised over $4,000 for “Kathryn.” The group also sent her a basket with diapers, wipes, books, and baby items to welcome her baby girl.

SFLA is so proud of these amazing student groups for going above and beyond in their mission to make abortion unavailable and unthinkable. Through their dedication to supporting families and driving out the abortion lobby, they have increasingly made both their campuses and communities more life-affirming. We can’t wait to see what they’ll be up to next year!
