Turns out the rain doesn’t keep the abortion supporters away, and it certainly doesn’t keep the Pro-Life Generation (PLG) from spreading the message of Life.
Despite the gloom and drizzle on Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) campus on Monday, a disgruntled pro-abortion student decided to kick and destroy Students for Life of America’s (SFLA) Defund Planned Parenthood Cemetery of the Innocents display as a part of the Capital Area Defund Planned Parenthood Billboard Truck Tour.

This tour piggybacks off the successful nationwide Defund Planned Parenthood A”CROSS” America initiative, which kicked off with a press conference on Capitol Hill and more than 100 Life Chain events nationwide. The result? Explosive media coverage, massive grassroots movement, and a reignited claim to take down the abortion giant.

It’s no wonder Planned Parenthood die-hards are acting out, and historically VCU has the most vocal and violent behavior against SFLA that we’ve encountered.
Ironically, the pro-abortion cross-stomper at VCU donned a cross necklace while perpetrating the carnage of the display that represents the 1,076 preborn lives Planned Parenthood snuffs out through the brutality of abortion every day. Unironically, an abortion zealot kicking crosses representing preborn children killed by abortion is apropos given her position.
When SFLA’s Southeast Campus Formation Coordinator, Mary-Logan Miske, confronted her on her vandalism and challenged her position, she replied, “Abortion is birth control.”

“After the vandal left, two women remained and expressed that I didn’t have the full picture on this issue. They then asked me how I became involved in the pro-life movement,” Miske shared. “I shared my story about how my mother was a single mom who embraced the challenges of raising me, despite societal pressures. I emphasized that women deserve better support and care. This seemed to shift the tone of our conversation, and they were supportive and understanding of my perspective. However, it concluded with them calling the school to question why our display had been approved.”
This isn’t the first time SFLA has encountered vandals on campus grounds. During the 2024 election season, SFLA’s first three days of the Abortion Extremism Mobile Billboard Tour in North Carolina resulted in three vandalizations.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, students set up the Cemetery of the Innocents on North Carolina State University’s (NC State) campus. Two vandalizations were caught on camera. First, there was the sign thief. After SFLA chased him to an elevator, he finally gave it back, saying, “The design was dope as fu**.” Another student threw one of SFLA’s signs and flipped off the Cemetery of the Innocents.
At UNC Charlotte’s campus in Charlotte, North Carolina, another case of stolen property occurred when a student decided that stealing a couple of crosses from SFLA’s display was a good idea. When confronted and recorded by SFLA staff, the irritated thief carelessly tossed the crosses on the ground and walked away.

SFLA stays calm and handles these incidents with grace and truth, doing our best to handle vandals and calling the police was necessary. And still, even with the disruption, minds are changed for Life!
“Today, SFLA’s Virginias Regional Coordinator Zach Sprouse and I set up a Cemetery of the Innocents display at Virginia Commonwealth University, where we engaged in over 39 conversations, resulting in some minds being changed!” Miske reported. “One woman, who was initially undecided about abortion, acknowledged and agreed that we should defund Planned Parenthood and that our tax dollars should be redirected to improve foster care.”

SFLA doesn’t vacate to vandals, and nearly every time, standing strong leads to life-changing conversations. As the Capital Area Defund Planned Parenthood Billboard Truck Tour continues, SFLA looks forward to more minds changing to recognize the value of Life, inside and outside the womb.
