“In the case now before the Supreme Court, an arrogant and poorly run abortion vendor demands the right to your tax money – whether you like it or not,” notes Students for Life of America Executive Vice President Tina Whittington. “But if we learned anything from the Democratic Party’s Obamacare creation, it’s that choosing to stick with certain providers means you have to pay them yourself. The woman, in this case, is free to go to Planned Parenthood and free to pay for it. But South Carolina’s emphasis on HEALTH in healthcare prioritizes life-saving care from full-service medical centers, rather than a scandal-plagued vendor that profits from ending innocent life in the womb.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (04-02-2025) – Students for Life of America (SFLA) will participate in a rally outside the Supreme Court beginning 9:30 a.m. ET, Wednesday, as Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic is set to be heard at 10 a.m. ET. SFLA Executive Vice President Tina Whittington will speak at the “Choose Health Not Harm” media event. Pro-Life and Pro-Abortion activists are anticipated at the high court in a pivotal case that asks whether a state can decide not to include Planned Parenthood on their list of preferred healthcare providers. The abortion lobby insists that a South Carolina woman who wanted to go to a Planned Parenthood has the right to demand that taxpayers fund her choice.

“What’s really at issue here is whether citizens receiving ‘free’ – taxpayer funded-insurance can demand where they use that money,” said Whittington. “The state of South Carolina’s desire to invest their scarce tax dollars in healthcare providers committed to helping every patient – born and preborn – represents a legitimate choice. This case will set the standard for other states who want to cut state funding of Planned Parenthood. And the same argument can be made at the federal level, where right now Planned Parenthood receives nearly $700M annually, mostly through healthcare dollars.”
This hearing is taking place against the backdrop of a number of national efforts to defund the abortion industry, as taxpayer funding is propping up Planned Parenthood’s deadly business, allowing them to pay for infrastructure, employees, and marketing with our tax money. SFLAction recently participated in an immense lobby day and media event, which sparked massive coverage nationwide.
