This September, Students for Life is proud to recognize Austin Homeschool Students for Life as our Group of the Month! Who said you have to go to a brick-and-mortar school every day to stand up for preborn babies? Austin Homeschool Students for Life is advantageously using their position as homeschooled high schoolers in Texas to educate their peers, build community, and stand boldly against abortion extremism.

While many student groups are just getting back into the rhythm of a new school year, Austin Homeschool Students for Life has already hit the ground running. On August 29, they hosted a Back-to-School Family Dance, bringing together students and families from across their community with an incredible turnout. The dance helped the Austin pro-life community build relationships, strengthen community ties, and get geared up to continue pro-life activism.

Beyond social events, more than six members participated in a Combat Abortion Extremism protest highlighting Senate candidate James Talarico’s pro-abortion record. Outside of Talarico’s church, Austin Homeschool Students for Life held pro-life signs. One quoted Jeremiah 1:15, reading “Before I formed you in the womb I knew,” while another urged passersby to “Keep Texas pro-life.” Another sign responded to Talarico’s claim that “the Bible is silent on abortion,” saying instead, “It’s Right There: Thou Shalt Not Kill.” Additionally, before and after the protest, group members distributed informational flyers in church parking lots to educate local churchgoers about Talarico’s extreme stance on abortion. This willingness to engage their community is exactly what the Pro-Life Generation needs!

On top of all this, group members helped with the LIFE Runners Across America Launch in Austin, Texas. LIFE Runners is the world’s largest pro-life running and walking team, whose mission is to pray, fundraise, and run or walk as a team until abortion ends, and these students were eager to get in on it! Most recently, Austin Homeschool Students for Life hosted their first meeting of the school year, in which members discussed important pro-life topics. In the spirit of community that this group epitomizes, they also made time during their meeting for a friendly game of volleyball.

By combining education, advocacy, and fellowship, Austin Homeschool Students for Life is creating an environment where students can grow as leaders while supporting one another. Their energy, initiative, and dedication make them a worthy recipient of September’s Group of the Month honor.

“Receiving this recognition is such an encouragement to our group. Austin Students for Life will continue to keep this generation active and aware by supporting our community and building leaders for this world that will advocate for even the smallest of our neighbors,” said Sebastian Hultgren, President of Austin Students for Life.

Congratulations, Austin Homeschool Students for Life! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next as you continue building a culture of life in Texas.
