When pro-abortion students can’t defend their beliefs with dialogue, they often resort to insults, harassments, or even attacks on our staff and students.

That’s exactly what happened at the University of Colorado Denver when SFLA staff member Mia Akins showed up for a scheduled stop on Students for Life’s Chemical Abortion Hurts tour, planning on discussing the dangers of Chemical Abortion Pills for preborn babies, women, and the environment.

Unsurprisingly, there were many hostile students who cursed and flipped off Mia and the students with her. But it all escalated in the last 5 minutes of the tour display, when an angry woman approached and started snatching up stacks of topic cards. Mia asked her to stop, moving the cards out of her reach. But undeterred, the woman swiped the remaining cards off the table before proceeding to flip the entire table.

Campus police officers arrived quickly to investigate — but so did a pro-abortion professor, who, instead of listening to instructions from officers, repeatedly demanded information about the tabling reservation and told Mia she “had it coming.”

Police have successfully identified the student, who is now being charged with property damage. But this isn’t the first time Students for Life has had one of our tables flipped over. Just last semester, a similar situation unfolded at Harvard University.

But for pro-lifers, these incidents do nothing but encourage us to speak even more boldly for life. As one bystander, 19-year-old Pat Hurley, put it:

“Mia’s bravery reminded me that we all need to have a voice in the protection of the innocent.”
