Students for Life of America Students Harassed by Florida Professor and Assaulted by Trans Pro-Abortion Activist in Virginia

“Once again, we have proof that the Pro-Life Generation takes risks every day to speak up for the preborn, who deserve a chance to be heard,” said Students for Life of America’s Kristan Hawkins. “The events experienced by Students for Life of America and Students for Life Action this week will not deter our mission of saving innocent lives. But our students are the grownups in the room, peacefully exercising their free speech rights despite opposition.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (02-21-2024) – This week, Students for Life of America (SFLA) staff and students have been subject to two separate incidents of harassment in Virginia and Florida, all while peacefully protesting or engaging in advocacy efforts.

“Sadly, the violence from the pro-abortion extremists is nothing new to The Pro-Life Generation, as these two events in Florida and Virginia illustrate,” said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America and Students for Life Action. “Instead of offering logical arguments and peaceful conversations, the pro-abortion side resorted to what it is best at: intimidation tactics against those they know can’t or won’t fight back. This isn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last, as our history as a movement is filled with this intense opposition. We won’t allow these events to get intimidate us or get in our way.”

The first event occurred at Florida International University, while a Students for Life of America (SFLA) groupwas hosting a tabling event in their student center. An unidentified professor approached them and declared they were ill-informed about abortion because, unlike him, they didn’t have Ph.Ds.

In a video, the increasingly hostile professor attacked the students for being uneducated, religious, and uninformed, and behaved in an intimidating way, insisting that abortion is a woman’s choice, chanting, “She can kill it!” multiple times.

He returned to apologize and attempted to record the SFLA group stating they weren’t being harassed. To see whether you agree, click here for the video.

The second event occurred at a pro-life march in Richmond, Virginia, where a trans activist charged pro-life marchers in the downtown area. The video from the incident was captured by Students for Life Action (SFLAction) Government Affairs Coordinator Savanna Deretich.  She described the pro-abortion activist as chanting and sprinting into the crowd and knocking eyeglasses from people’s heads. The protestor was later arrested by the police.
