Kansas City, KS and Washington, D.C. (05-06-22) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) announced the first stop of its summer door knocking efforts in the Kansas City area on Monday, May 9 from 3-7:00 PM local time. SFLAction President, Kristan Hawkins, will be accompanied by Melissa Ohden, abortion survivor and Founder and Director of the Abortion Survivors Network, and Kansans for Life to talk to voters about the Value Them Both ballot referendum for the state.

Ohden survived a saline abortion attempt on her life when she was approximately seven months gestation and went on to launch The Abortion Survivors Network (ASN) to help heal and empower abortion survivors and advance public policy solutions to protect life. SFLAction is working with Ohden on her legislative priorities for a post-Roe blueprint and its Value Them Both Initiative. SFLAction had an active presence in Kansas during the general election, and sent 33,900 texts and nearly 60,000 calls in the state with a #VoteProLifeFirst message.

“We have gratefully partnered with Melissa to not only share her powerful story but work together in moving this lifesaving amendment through the finish line,” said Curtis. “This year is critical in our elections. We are mobilizing across the Nation to advance pro-life policies, starting right here in Kansas City, where we look to finish off our 2-year effort by successfully encouraging Kansas voters to vote “YES” in support of the Value Them Both Amendment on August 2nd. We are excited to work with groups on the ground who share the goal of eradicating the biggest human rights issue of our day, abortion.”

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization and a political and policy operation engaging people of all ages. Together they work to end abortion — the human rights issue of our day — and provide political, legal, and community support for women and their children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA has more than 1,250 groups on middle, high school, college, university, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA creates strategy, policy, and programming to connect those most targeted for abortion with people ready to help and builds a framework for political engagement on their behalf. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with those most targeted by the abortion industry than any other pro-life outreach in the world, reaching more than 2 million people across social media platforms each week and engaging in approximately 100,000 digital conversations per month. Over more than 15 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA into an $18 million organization preparing for a Post-Roe America.
